lol, redneck tek.

nice setup, so you're saying that the blub just sits on the top of the can, kinda just resting there? and the fan is blowing DOWN into the perlite? interesting, is that to force air in an dpush it up around? that's just what i'm guessing, but dude, very nice grow.

and btw, easy trips are fun too!

As soon as I get my setup going (hopefully later today) i'll start a log for my grow  We'll see what happens, because i only have a webcam to work with (granted it's a badass webcam) the quality is going to be at 320x260, maybe some VGA shots, but ... whatever, you'll see. nice setup for the heat, i might have to mimik that. I'm going to the hardware store today to buy some stuff and to see what I can do. Anyways, SHROOM TIME! w00t

The bulb sits right inside the can. The fan is to distribute the heat, I found when I just had a bare bulb in there that the casing surfaces were getting dried out rapidly. The fan blows the warm air down onto the perlite.

i sent you a msg about your heater, but i'll ask in here in case you didn't get it. I was wondering how you got the computer fan to plug into whatever you have it plugged into. I tried wiring it to the wall but it blew, guess the 12v couldn't handle the 120v  haha, anyways, mind sharing? thnx.

Plugging a 12V fan into the wall is pretty dangerous and guaranteed to fry your fan. You need some sort of adapter to step the mains voltage down to 12V (assuming your fan is meant to run on 12 volts).

Neato!
*skips around in circles, playing 'The pins have arrived' on the electric-fizzledang-triangle*
They are looking good. Took a while though, the wee blighters! The differences between the straight verm and coco coir are interesting...I wonder what the verdict will be...The ones on coir look exactly like mine at that stage...not coincidentally, I guess  Good luck! *senses harvest approaching*

Straight Verm casing:

50/50+ casing:

So the straight verm casing is doing at least as well as the 50/50+
I think I might have let both the casings dry out way too much.. the humidity in there is 100% but I haven't misted the casings much at all. Can I get some pointers on misting casings? When, how much, how often ... I'm scared of causing aborts. Thanks guys, this whole casing deal is pretty new to me.

Hey man,
They are coming along nicely! Should be ready in a day or two. As for the misting, you should be fine at the moment. I don't mist at all for my entire 1st flush and had excellent results. Especially if you have really high humidity. You just have to make sure to give them a real good misting after the harvest before you put em back in for the 2nd round!
When you are misting during a flush, basically just keep it really light and avoid gettin it on any shrooms (spray between em).
The verm / 50-50 differences are really interesting so far. The 50-50 shrooms look healthier in general, but there is a less even pinset. Those verm cased ones have a crazy frosted look to 'em, but there is a few more fruits and they are more evenly distributed. Does anyone know why this is? (with the frosted look thing)

Sorry, stoned me forgot to take a photo beforehand

Verm casing:

3 caps taken for printing.
Sadly, while harvesting I noticed the casing had some penicillum mold down the sides, hence I have decided to retire her  :frown:

She had a good life  :smirk:

If you recall I had 3 jars of grain - 2 were cased directly, the third was a bit slower. I used some of it to spawn a quantity of ZooDoo a few weeks ago (this is my first attempt at poo). The B+ tore through it, it was cased a few days ago, patched yesterday and today placed in the terrarium:

I'm very pleased with the ZooDoo's performance, it only costs $6.50 for a 40 litre bag. I sterilized/pasteurized it in the microwave for 10 minutes on high and had no problems with contamination.
Here is the ZooDoo a few days prior to casing, I have never seen anything so rhizomorphic.
