Is the dirt and straw already pre-moistened? If it is, it's probably ready to mix. You want to mix the white cake with the straw in the plastic container. Cover it, place somewhere dark and at room tmep, and wait until the straw is covered in mycelium. The dirt is probably a casing layer. Then apply the dirt over the entire straw mix at about a 1/2" layer. Wait until white pokes through the dirt and put it in light, slightly colder temps and fan twice a day while keeping the moisture level even.

Zathan u are great... thank u... so basically I take the white cake, moisten it like dough and roll it in the hay like it's flour...then mist a lil more then roll around the dirt like? Am I following you right? Should I mist it regularly? SO it stays dark til white pokes thru then I put it in a lil light? THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE DUDE!!!!!!!

MycoKris thank you thank you thank you, you're great too

So I guess I have to cook my hay in the pillow case, let it cool, then rub the cake all over til it's covered, then maybe mist a little more n rub it over the dirt... stick it in the tote... and PRAY!!!!

The white cake should be a spawn, so you want to crumble it to tiny bits and mix it well with the straw. You shouldn't need to mist at this point, because the wet straw should provide adequate moisture while it's covered. The dirt goes on when it's completely colonized to protect the moisture content of the straw, as well as to provide a little more moisture. You want to mist only when fruiting (light, air, low temps) because the induced oxygen will probably carry away some moisture, so some misting is needed.

When i tried it that way a long time ago first time bugs got in there then the next 2 times i got mold..I think you have to make sure your at least half sterol when ur doing it..boil the straw good and dry it in a safe place away from bugs and mold
