we are using malt-syrups from the organic-food store:

corn-malt
barley-malt
and brown-rice malt

i dont know were u live ...but we live in a small town....and we can purchase whatever we need here...

all of this syrups are fine ...but barley is best...less sugar , more proteine

hello

yes i would like to know if barley malt extract can be used for anything like additive to agar or either for the liquid tek...it's the only malt extract i found in the health food store, and there was "malt syrup" but don't know if that's any good...

for some reason looking for shroom cultivation supplies is really hard here...agar agar cost me ?3.50 for just 50 grams. i asked if they will ever get the bars of agar hte woman got mad at me :frown:

anyways, i'm sure i could find them, but lack of transportation would probably restrict me....

I know of malt extract for agar work and liquid culture, but I meant ground malt barley with the husks etc. Like the beer brewery would use. This stuff can be obtained at the home brew shop as well. The big question is what else to mix to make a substrate? From the verm discussion I would like to try something else.
