 Pluteus salicinus?

Cap 4 cm in diameter, stem lenght 7 cm. Growing in woods under deciduous trees, not directly on wood(at least not obvious)
Gills pinkish grey, attached to the stem, spore color don?t know, smell barely, taste like raw potatoes but slightly bitter and mushroomy. Bluish-green color change on the point where the stem broke. Stem white with occasional bluish-greeinsh tones.
Cap surface slimy, color see photo.

Excellent photos and description. I'll definitely want to hear what color the spore print comes out as.
It does look like a Pluteus, except that it also appears to have a fibrillose ring zone where you're holding it in the last photo. According to Alexander Smith the cap color should be dark gray brown for P. salicinus and cinnamon brown for P. cyanopus.
Keep us posted. That's an interesting find.

TM is right on the looking like a pluteus part. i've never seen the salmon solored form before though and i'm not too familiar with the pluteus genus. that viel remnant concerns me. that is some heavy bluing there, only pluing pluteus species i have found where barely noticable. exelent find.

mighty fine find. but i see that annular zone in every photo.
i doubt it pluteusness.
it sure looks active and psilocybe-like.
stumped. give us spore color.

Spore print (still very light) is brownish-pinkish.

nice find, i look forward to id confirmation. also, i understand these are active. any info/reports on their "activity" ?? do they contain else other than psilocin/psilocibin? can they be domesticated? will you give it a shot?

If you know its not deadly, just a tiny little taste test, when spitting out the matter being tasted is ok.
BTW: Anno, are you going to try to grow it out?

since pluteus are lovers of decayed wood, wouldnt it be simple to try to grow some?

I know Pluteus atricapilus and it has pink spore print that you can't miss.
If the print is pinkish then it certainly belongs to Pluteus genus.
If your print is more brownish then I can think only of Inocybe.
Post a picture of spore print...

I think it's an Inocybe. Making exact ID would require viewing spores and gills under microscope.

I'm with Zeronio here. That spore print color is suggestive of Inocybe. If you want an accurate ID on this one we probably need to send it to a professional who will need to spend microscope time on it.

Hi ANno, I can tell you that is it is not a Pluteus and is as suggested by a few as an Inocybe. However I am not at home where I do have photos of all six varieties of Inocybe.
Pluteus are a rather heavier meatier mushroom. I have personally eatten I. aeruginascens.
However the intense bluing does sugest a possible P. serbica, and a few other species.
I would have to go through my files but I am positive it is not a Pluteus.
Mj. Won't be home till after the 20th of October. Tomorrow we put the two Cambodian collections and a KS new species collection and a few samuiensis under the sem and then we have a Japanese student who will do a DNA analysis of our three new species.
We are getting an $8000.00 grant for five of us to study the Thai collections and on Sunday will head to Su Phanburi to where the Kwai reside throughout the land. This is there centter. Maybe one more trip to Cambodia or to Koh Samui now that the rain is hitting. Bangkok is flooded right now. Have a shroomy day.
I would suggest sending a specimen or a print to Workman. He can do the best in producing more prints for futher study among those qualified to put them under the scope.

Hi mjshroomer,
I live in the America's and, i have to compliment you on how good your english typing is. Most people who live in Cambodia do not type english as well as you do.
Funny, 'cause, just yesterday i got a $14,000.oo grant from the university to research all the Cubensis strains in my gerneral area of FLORIDA. 
Yesterday, i found 7 new strains of Cubensis in my area!
-One of them i have designated as a new strain because i saw a little rat chewing on its mushroom capicus. This strain will be called, The Rat Capicus Cubensis, prints will be available early next year.
-Oh and i also will care to mention yet another strain of Cubensis in my area of which the manure is produced by a cow with only one foot..This unique Cubensis strain will be known throughout the mushroom community as GG's One footed-blue foot.
We have also discovered two new Copelandia cyanescens strains. They come from a field with 4 black cows and 3 spotted ones..and the Copelandia caps never grow to be bigger than the size of small green pea (that is what we call them here in the America's but i don't know what they call small green peas where you live in Cambodia). So you can see that the ratio of 4 pure black cows to the ratio of only 3 (three) spotted ones can make for an entirely different genetically altered strain of Copelandia.
