Need info about Psi. samuiensis mycelium
    #924518 -

I've just noticed that two persons here at the shroomery
have managed to grow out Psilocybe samuiensis.
It seems that their prints derived from the same collection as mine
(collected in October last year by J. W. Allen and Ryche Hawk in Ko Samui/Thailand).
My experiences have not succeed up to now so I feel kind of insecure
about my mycelium. Maybe I've got a different kind of shroom here,
'cause one never knows what grows out of a wild spore print.
Is there anyone out there who could post a pic of
real Psilocybe samuiensis mycelium.
Thanks a lot for any effort.

akasha

Mycelium is linear-rhizomorphic.

If your casing isn't pinning, SCRATCH it lightly, pins will appear in three days.
Don't need a cold shock, but casing layer disturbance was benificial to pin set .

Thanks Teonan. I've already done scratching.
The mycelium is pure white, mostly cottony and
has no rhizos. It spredas like a carpet.
The growth doesn't stop until the whole
casing layer is colonized and then it
changes its color to brown.
I guess this is the stroma state of the fungi.
At this point I scratched the surface but with no results.

Thanks Feito:)
What are the best temperatures for spawn running and for fruiting?
How long does it take from casing to pin setting?
What seems to be the best substrate to fruit on?

You need to do some more transfers, those plates have to much going on in them.

Transfer until you have NO sectoring, then use to innoc. substrate.

Invitro pinning occured on multispore plates after 30+ days at room temp 74-80F. Clones were obtained from these plates!!! Also transfers were done until ZERO sectoring occured. Was able to fruit from the non sectoring isolates as well as the clones from the original multispore plates.

Good luck!!

My casings completely colonized as well, that's why I scratched them, but I NEVER GOT BROWNING.

Your plates look like they are growing SCLEROTIA? Mine did not do that!!!

As it seems so far that what I have is pure Psilocybe samuiensis mycelium I will go on trying.
Thank you both for your support. I will view this post from time to time if anyone adds something new.

I will get you some pics up in a couple of days.
Transfers were made to a dark "dungged" agar, so you can see it better...
That casing you saw pics of is still going, contam free.
I really like this little shroom.
