grateful dead wings

Ive seen a bunch of heads running around with these pins. Ive heard they are given out for random acts of kindness, good deeds, etc. I have no idea what they represent or how to receive one although the people i have met that had them were quite remarkable.

There's a head that runs around to practically all of (at least the west coast) Dead / DSO / Phil / RatDog shows who sells them for $10 - $15 a pop. I wouldn't use it as a measure of reliability or personal worth, since anyone can get their hands on them. I have one myself, that must tell ya how shady some of them wingbearers can be, eh? :tongue2:

guess it meant more to the older heads. i didnt mean to make it seem like they were a judge of character. i think their wings were connections to families they were part of in different states because when i was strolling with this dude he kept telling every other old head that he got them in Oregon from so and so and they would reply that they got their from so and so from whatever state.

just wanted to have a little more information since I just came across these at a really really really small festival in wisco.
