Foil on substrate for bucket or not?

I have one quick question to ask for my bucket grow Im doing. Should i put a piece of foil loosely over the top of my substrate or not when Im waiting for it to colonize the coir? If so would a day or 2 of not putting on the foil affect it badly or would it be fine?
Thanks for your input

Put foil over top with holes poked in it for gas exchange. WIthout foil you risk contams entering the uncolonized sub. You need to do that asap.

Make sure to poke holes...don't forget that.

Yeh i punched some holes in a sheet of foil and laid it right on the substrate loosely. My bucket has a Glad wrap sheet over the top of it with holes in it covered with micropore tape on each hole. By opening up the bucket and placing the foil on the substrate now is their a greater risk of contams? I just prepared the bucket last night. How long should the foil remain on the substrate until it needs to be taken off?

Depends on the size. I let my trays colonize for about a week and then check them. Just opening them won't really expose you too much, I wouldn't worry about it. Once it is fully colonized, you can start fruiting or case and incubate for a couple of days. There are mixed reviews on how coir performs cased vs. uncased, so I'll let you decide that.

you dont NEED the foil there and ou dont really have a higher risk of contams as long as you dont look at it 10 times a day you should be ok

one more thing ...you want to trap C02 I in so replace the wrap on top with a new layer with no holes you want ge not fae fae is the #1 pinning trigger it will pin before its 100%+ it it gets too much fae

See if I don't poke holes I get cobweb LOL. That's why I poke holes, just for gas exchange.
