Sounds like a awesome idea.
I'm just wondering how hard it would be to fill these grid-frames with-out large amounts of spillage from the large holes in the grids.

Psychonaut,

I had though about this aswell :smile: you have to incubate the straw in a regular tray to allow the mycelium to run through the staw andhold the straw. The transfer it to the grid frames. Im sure there are other ways to do this but thats what I figured could be done.

im sorry but this is making little sense to me as someone w/o the stamets book. it sounds interesting since i will be working w/ straw, but do you think you could try to explain this concept one more time? and if at all possible a scan of the pic would be useful.
what i gather from what you wrote is that you would have this chainlink material set up so shrooms would grow out of the substrate from the sides and bottom as well as the top. and that second you could fasten it in a chamber in multi levels to maximize the top space and cut down on the floor space?

I dont have a scanner, and I dont think it would be clear as the pic is in Black and white. What this material is plastic. It looks like a plastic chain link fence. You can find this in any hardware store in with the fence materials. What you would do is buy what ever amount you wanted and create your own custom trays. Yes the trays would fruit from all surfaces exposed to light. In my greenhouse I will be hanging 3 of these so it looks like my tent has "walls" of shrooms. I hope this helped :smile:
