mycelium "balls"? Mycobag, brf, verm, rice, popcorn

yeah my B+ is colonizing, and it seems like the mycelium like to gather together in "balls"...some the size of a marble, some almost as big as a golf ball. This is obviously just the mycelium and some moisture and the substrate kind of being all held together...but why are they like seriously shaped like globes? Also, when it's colonized enough so that i need to shake/mix it up a bit, do i put pressure on the balls to break them up, or do i just mix them around in the bag?

i was just it a few good shakes maybe 4 medium shakes today & then wait 3 days then shake 4 more times & then see what happens. you do not want to crush the mycelium with your hand it will cause busing

well they kind of look like "munchkins".....donut holes. They seem to be really big round clumps of myc and verm and brf and stuff.

**BUMP** Here's a picture - they're like munchkins. And there seems to be more and more of them. In other pictures of mycobags the colonizing is like through the whole bag, but this seems to be creating little globes of consolidation. What do I do? Break them up? Is this normal?

after placing the B+ inoculated bag in a shoe box after mixing it up some and adding that water - the mycelium has gone like OUT OF CONTROL. I'm talking like 10% colonization to 75% within 48 hours. Temp is about 80, it's in total darkness, and it's just blowing my funkin mind. Holy shit. At this rate I'm going to start fruiting within a 2-3 days. Seriously, the myc just totally took off. I am VERY pleased. Let that be a lesson - colonizing mycelium will do it's thing EXPONENTIALLY faster when placed in total darkness and givin a little extra heat - instead of room temp, low 80's. On the bad side, my SECOND syringe of Mazatepec from sporeworks is bogus - funkin thing will not colonize, and now there's an aroma of like garbage or some other nastiness. God damn it. Fuuuuuuuuup. Oh well, by the looks of the ferocity of the B+ mycelium I'll be harvesting like pounds of trippy goodness. Now I need to figure out how to fruit invitro. I can't really give it any temp. drop, just light. I might start leaving the window open, but my balls will pay a tough price.

hmmm, some dude was saying something about....oh i think i was thinking of a thread where some guy used actual coffee filters with a homeade bag. The B+ is doing great. The Mazatapec's inoculation seal fucking like fell off, piece of shit. I put scotch tape over it, and now a fa few days later of course it reeks like rotten fruit and is getting tossed. NEVER buy bags off ebay.

Coffee filter would DEF allow contams in - the holes in them are way too big. Those filter patches are doing their job, as long as you don't touch them or get em wet.
And about the ebay bags - I was SO close to ordering some on there. It was 4 for $20, and it was actually the guy from Mycofactory - but after doing research, the best vendor bags are from MadSeason. They're made fresh daily, so they have perfect moisture. Who knows how long the ebay bags were sitting for, ya kno?

Wow dusty huh? I KNEWWWWWW something had to be up with the cheap ebay bags.. They were probably around for months, maybe years!! The Madseason bags are a consistency of nice fresh moist potting soil. Do you remember what vendor you ordered from? I'd probably recognize the name cuz I looked at ALL of em, lol.

Mine was not compact and moist - the verm. and brf was just like friggin dust man, and popcorn was just sitting on top. Friggin ridiculous. I honestly rehydrated with about 50cc of water

Yup, I actually messaged them on there. What happened, is I have a prepaid debit card for this little hobby, and I put enough money on there for Spores101 spores, and Ebay bags.. So I ordered the 101 spores, and saw that they charge an extra $1 per transaction on my card - so I was less than ONE dollar short for the bags lol.. That's when I came on here researching, and found out there were way better bags and spores - and ordered new ones from Sporeworks.. I ordered both the bags/spores on Sunday night, and both arrived on Wednesday.. The 101 spores came after TWO weeks and I refused the package and sent it right back for a refund..

also, the B+ is really colonizing - there's just myc everywhere....and huge clumps of it...some as big as a plum. Will all these big clumps eventually join together and form one big clump/cake?

They're supposed to. My bag was like 30-40% at 12 days, and the front was like a brick of myc, and I broke it all up and mixed - took a few mins. I was pretty sketched out cuz all the white was gone lol, and the substrate was loose like potting soil - but now 3 days later, it's nearly ALL white now, and bricking up again, I can tell just by feeling the bag a little..

Here's the message from Maddy's
Quote:
Hi! I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have been out of town, so I promise my responses will be quicker now. I am positive that you can go from inoculation to harvest right inside of the bag. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
