craziest mutation I've ever seen! I didn't believe this of all things was possible...

I even saw a post a few days ago where it looked like the dude kind of faked it by using other bodies to hold up his so-called mutation... maybe he wasn't faking it, but his looked bruised on the end like he picked it and turned it around...
Of all mutations I thought this was one I'd never see! It is off a piss poor coir substrate that didn't fully colonized, but I fruited it anyway just to get a few, which I did. Been in the greenhouse for 2 weeks or so with no contams, even though it is not fully colonized... could explain the mutations? I dunno, all I know is WTF? IT IS GROWING BACKWARDS!!!??!!

nice picture. I didn't realize it was a frequent thing, but cool nonetheless. Of all the possible mutations, this one just undermines all logic! How the hell? I didn't notice it until it was already pretty matured...

looks like it pinned on the side where that myc is imnotthere and just grew downward lol
Here are some of my mutations.
Most recent one:
This is from a year ago:

I don't think those are genetic mutations. I've always wondered why the odd one would grow upside down like that.

Are you prepared to kneel beside a dying soldier and tell him why he went to Iraq, or why he went to any war?" I don't think its genetic either but caused by the environmental conditions present to the mycellium.

what conditions cause a mushroom to grow upside down though? It doesn't make sense. The nutes are supposed to go up the stem into the fruit and that's how it pins and forms a cap. It seems there is a mycelial mat on the top of this presumably extracting moisture from the air then another extracting nutes from under the cap. I just don't get why or how it can form like this.

Its called chaos theory ;O
Mushies do not have to be right on the sub to fruit.. they can also start on the side of something and grow the wrong way it just happens..
I have seem mushies form invitro (in jars of spawn) on the sides of the glass not even near the wbs!
Its a myc network that supports and brings the needed goods to the fruit body to continue growth.
The exact conditions would probably be pretty hard to duplicate intentionally, and predictably.

My roommate got one that was growing backwards like that, but it was growing off of another mushroom cap. His whole first flush was mutants though.

yeah i'm seeing it on the right hand side too.
-------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see, and hear. Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one millionth of reality. --------------------------------

Meh. I just now got bored and made this in mspaint in like 3 minutes. I should really go to bed...
Funny thing is, I've done meth. I have no inclination to do it again. Those commercials sure are fucking weird though.
