pins growing under surface
    #9202838 - 11/07/08 03:42 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

i have like 3in of substrate in a clear FC with a casing layer and the substrate is taped off to cover it from the light but i peeled the tape back and there are a ton of pins growing under the casing layer against the plastic.Should i dig them up and mess up my casing or let them be.I read that they can start rotting after awhile and contaminate my shit.

Leave them alone.  Don't bother with buried fruits.  They won't contaminate.

You are much more likely to introduce contaminates by messing with the casing and substrate than those mushrooms are.

It's probably not too much air, rather a lack of humidity above the surface.  Find a way to increase your humidity at the surface and I'm sure you'll start seeing your pins forming on top much more regularly.
