BRF spawned to coir

I am having some weird results with my grow thus far. I did PF Tek style BRF jars inoc'd with Puerto Rican spores. I spawned them to coir and coffee with a tiny bit of hydrated lime to adjust pH. Basically I just cut up the cakes into smaller pieces, and mixed them with the bulk substrate. I put them in deep aluminum pans and cased with a layer of 50/50 verm/peat. So far, the mushrooms that have sprouted up are very tiny, like an inch tall. There are a lot of them, but I'm not very impressed so far. I searched around and it sounds like tiny mushrooms=not enough moisture, so I used a turkey baster to add some water to the pans. My humidity is 99% and the temperature is always in the 70's (I have a good hygrometer/thermometer from a cigar shop). I am using "Teh Bubbleh" for my humidifier/FAE. My camera is out of batteries but I did snap 2 pics with my cell phone, sorry for the bad quality. What do you think?

After you spawned the cakes to coir, did you let the tray incubate again? Also when I did something very similar, I used a cheese shredder to break up the cakes and then mixed that with my coir, covered it and put it back in the incubator again for another ten days. Then I removed the cover and put it in the FC.

sorry, i obviously know it's the PF Tek. Sometimes typos happen! I can see the pictures, not sure why you can't. My substrate is about 3.5 - 4 inches deep, with a really light layer of casing on top. I did let the pans incubate for about a week, then I just put them in the FC. I broke the cakes into fairly small pieces, maybe like 3/4" across.

well, just checked them again, most already have the veil broken with the caps almost convex. what can i do to make these things bigger? right now they are maybe 2 inches tall.

yeah pick off those fruits and dunk the substrate for eight to twelve hours then fruit them again. leave any pins on during the dunk.

you dunk with the casing layer. just replace any casing material that washes away when the dunk is over. make sure its pasturized.

so it's cool to use the same pan and just fill it with water, and then pour the water out, re-case, and throw it back in the FC?

yeah man. pick fruits - leave small pins on casing:just flood the tray for the time chosen- drain the trays. i tilt to one corner to drain them. replace any casing that washed away-then put back into fruiting . just fan for a while to evaporate some of the moisture. hold off on misting a bit.

no problem bro, i like to help. if your substrate wants to float put something heavy on it to sink it.
