Hi there,
I bought a myco box kit.
exactly seven days ago i injected it with cambodian cubenis spore.

I know there is a thread exactly like this below but i just had to put my mind at rest

What kind of kit? Did you inject deep into the substrate, or near the outside?

7 days isn't that long, but is a bit longer than normal under ideal conditions. Typically this is caused by too much moisture in the substrate, temp too high or low or possibly bad spores.

Double check temp - 75-80F and have patience.

ah, I'd say even with lower temps that cambodian would still hold up, germinate, and then colonize before the 7 day mark.
Check your procedures and see if you missed anything like as said above, moisture content (proper substrate mixtures) , inoculation technique, and absolutely bad spores could be a factor (I.E. Rip offs, no spores, sporestore.com frauds etc.)

its a rule of thumb to wait two weeks- if you see no growth start over. i bet you just need to wait longer.

2 weeks to see mycelium initialization?  I'm sorry but I have to disagree.  14 days Cambodians should be almost done, it's a very aggressive, self-isolating, rhizomorphic strain... I've seen them colonize BRF fully at 65-70 degrees in less than 20 days.

Hate to say it but either you got bad spores or you did something wrong and need to reanalyze your steps to see what could've happened and try again asap.

Good luck!

self isolating? what a load of crap. you can ignore what vendors say about strains since what you see advertised has been produced via isolating from spores to find a nice isolate strain. your growing from multispore, each spore has its own unique genitic code. when joined with another monoculture they exchange dna and form a dykroac mycelium which is the true defination of strain. its quite possible to see no growth until much later on, it has happened in the past and still happens.                                      no strain is more contam resisntant, faster coliniser, more rhyzomorphic more tolerent to co2 etc. by strain mean print of spores. even with an isolate once it produces spores and you use those spores. you are back to square 1.

the spores have to germinate, usually this can take 7-10 days before youll see any growth...strain has NOTHING to do with how long it takes the spores to germinate....colonization can be sped up with different strains but they all take the same time to germinate.

I've found Cambodians to be much faster colonizers than other strains, and more rhizomorphic.

slow growth....

i am waitin on 2 cakes of b+ & 3 equador's to fully colonize(95% now) and its been nearly 2 months now.

about 2 weeks ago i did another batch, 7 in total of b+ & eq's and they r now 90% colonized.

i made the 1st batch to wet and not enough heat for colonization and have learned from that. my second batch will probably be ready before the first..... but we learn from our mistakes

Load of rubbish. When injecting from multispore solution u will not have consistent results so you cannot say that it is all aggressive, rizomorphic or whatever.

Injecting from the same syringe you could have one jar produce strong growth and another produce weak fluffy growth.

Well, hey listen guys, all I'm saying that in my personal experience that Cambodians have shown to be quicker and more rhizomorphic than say the GT's or BPK's I've worked with, I've never seen Cambodians do anything but produce fast colonizing, rhizomorphic mycelium, so I didn't realize there was more science behind it, but I am glad it was brought up so I can focus more on a particular area of study.

I know you guys know more about this than I do, so you're probably right, and I apologize if I spread any kind of misinformation, it wasn't intentional... I really thought that the Cambodian strain acted the way I thought it did, so there's no need for any hostility, I appreciate learning new things, so I'm glad I was able to get in on this thread and discuss things.

All in all, when using a spore syringe, in my opinion, I think something went absolutely wrong if you haven't seen any signs of growth after 7-14 days.
I may not be as scientifically educated on mycology as some of you guys, but I have been cultivating for over a year and produced many batches and never have I seen a jar take more than 7-8 days to start colonizing from a syringe inoculation.

Cheers and beers, and keep the knowledge flowing.

thanks guys

Lol, I wish mine took only that long. My EQs and Mexis seem to take forever even following the tek exactly. Took some of mine a month to colonize, but then again maybe the substrate was to wet...

Well, a lot of the strains I've worked with take about 3 1/2weeks to a month to fully colonize... I just notice the Cambodian strain colonizes a lot faster.
