Datura inoxia growing question
#9190561 - 11/05/08 06:03 PM (15 years, 4 months ago) |

Although I have come across a fair amount of posts about this unique plant, I still have a question. I recently came into possession of 30 or so Datura inoxia seeds. I am planning on adding a plant or two to my garden (one to possibly make into a tincture and one to display a beautiful flower) and I was curious if anyone knows if freezing the seed for a week or two before planting is necessary or recommended? The person who gifted me the seeds recommended it but I cant seem to find any posts on shroomery of people using this method. Any help or advice would be graciously welcomed.

Alright I think I am going to soak in a coffee filter in a plastic bag by some low heat. I read about someone else having success with this method on another thread.

DO NOT SOAK THEM. Every thing I read said not to and I have my first seedling with two leaves and I didn't soak.

All I did was plant them 1/4 inch down in miracle gro soil, give them a 10-15-10 fert. and put them in my closit of dreams. The little guy is like 1 inch tall with two leaves. Its only been two days since sprouting too. Its my first time growing datura.

Same as you, Datura Inoxia! I also have some persian white poppies, two unidentified cacti, an astrophytum cacti, a venus flytrap and some Mazatapec cubes (Though everything I say is a lie).

Pretty impressive, makes me want a bigger closit! I actually have (3)3 foot cuttings of peruvian torch cactus coming from MOD EDIT: Source discussion NOT allowed, read the rules. I'm probably gonna try to plant a six foot cutting from one and save the rest for my shamanic work. Oh, and if you want a flytrap look in the garden section at a store, thats where I got mine about 5 days ago. I'd give you seeds but i don't have any.

I would if I had the guidence of a more experianced shaman or just start off extreamly low. I plan on it I guess. I really like the look of datura and I would use leaves and flowers as offerings and exotic inscence(?). I've had a dose of 50 seeds once but had very little effect probably because I was distracted.

I trusted friend of mine recently blessed me with ayahuasca prepared by a shaman in peru. He said the shaman used over 40 herbs when preparing it. I have heard of adding very minute quantities datura to certain substances to compliment or potentiate the effects. I wonder if datura was one of the 40?

Could be that or brugmansia, they're very common ingredients in aya. I also got some mimosa hostillis, datura flowers and cappi vine coming my way, mabey I'll through a flower in there. I've read in Plants of the Gods that brugmansia is used to treat mental illness I think in aya preparation.

Yeah I have been diagnosed with schizo but after I started to heal with the path I take I've had no symptoms whatsoever. But yeah plants of the gods is the best book I've read as far as traditional usage goes as well as chemical analysis. Albert Hoffman even helped in this book. Its also awesome on the mythology of these plants too.

It's a good book. I highly recommend it. Soaking the seeds isn't going to hurt anything btw. I've never got a non-soaked seed to germ.

I too am planning on growing some Datura in the near future, however I think I will try D.stramonium. I may end up growing a few different species. I have no desire to consume this plant, I merely want it around for its impressive flowers and as a lovely decoration. Personally I would choose other plants to experiment with if you wish to consume them, like San Pedro or something along those lines.

Different plants have different purposes in shamanism, you cant use one for everthing (healing, divining, diagnosing, asteral projection) or I would completely agree with you.

The only reason why I personally wouldn't consider using Datura in that way at this point is because I have no experience with it. I might consider it if I was using it with someone with a lot of experience though. For me I'll stick to other plants for the time being. I agree though, there is no silver bullet for shamanic purposes. Different plants serve different purposes.

I've read that yopo grows pretty hearty but root rot is usually a problem or some other kinds of mold. But yeah you're not alone I kicked opiates and benzos like a year or two ago, I dont think all the pills I snorted were all that good for my nose either.

What type of morning glory did you plant? I have some pretty healthy heavenly blues and some Rivea corymbosa that sprouted last week. I have been thinking about growing yopo how difficult would it be to cultivate indoors? I also want to add a khat plant and a long overdue kratom plant to the ethno garden.

I would try a 1 inch by one 1inch peace of datura leaf in ayahuasca brew. One of my best trips ever was taking 30 datura seeds before smoking a joint of the best weed ever, I then went on my first mushroom hunting trip through a beautiful forest, found one mario brothers size amanita, and a lot of other mushrooms, no shrooms though. I then smoked tons of weed through that trip.

^Pretty much, one hit and you are going into deep space, one joint and you might as well have taken shrooms. It is a sativa so you don't get sleepy either, I swear I have smoked a lot of hash before and it doesn't compare to that weed. The guy who grew it soaked the buds in honey oil. (I know this to be true since I helped him make the honey oil and dip it.) It was amazing, and since it is pure sativa you could smoke as much as you want you won't get the slightest bit sleepy.
