Where are you getting this information for 86? Most people say 75-80 however room temperature is fine.

Oh oh I know this one! lol See yall, I'm learning! The temp inside the jar will be warmer so if it's 80 degrees outside the jar, it would help to put you close to 86 inside the jar and that's ideal. Other feel free to flog me if I'm wrong!

In his defense, if you search the net, just about EVERY piece of info says 86.. RR has gone over this, and explained why.. But yea, it is too hot.. I have my Mycobags at around 75-78, and 4 days after noc'ing I have healthy mycelium growth already.

86f is old outdated informatiom. mycelial growth falls sharply above 83f.
Incubate pf tek no higher than 81f, larger grain and bulk subs much lower. Room temp (75) is fine

I agree with your temps, which is why I was asking where he got his info because apparently he didn't get it from here (forums). I know the Mushroom Cultivator states, 84-86F. Which like you said has been debated and it is not valid anymore. Which I say room temp is best yet.

This is my first grow to, it took 5 days to show yellowing of area that the mycelium is growing in 6th day the area is turning bright white with a thick healthy look to it. all be it its just 1 cm big (laugh) but my babies are growing and i cant stop looking at them. i had the temp at 86 degrease to but after doing allot of research today and reading allot of you experts post i think ill drop the temp and cont to chart my results. Six are you keeping a grow journal? It probably one of the most important thing a newbie like us can do, easy to refer to and we can day by day see where we messed up. or maybe need to add to the process? its always funny to me how it takes weeks to grow in a jar with perfect conditions and overnight to grow in cow patties, but that's nature so have patience search the site for others that are having similar issues or concerns and if all else fails ask away!

You are all forgetting the main issue here!
4 days is really not enough time to see colonisation even under the most ideal of conditions.
Yes, sometimes you can see it by then, but other times it takes a lot longer. Until two weeks have passed you really should't start worrying.
But yes, lower those temps.

I lowered the temp and I guess I'm just going to be patient and give it a week. I just can't stand waiting I just want to see something happen already

I hear ya man.. I was in the same boat after I noc'ed my Mycobags.. I did tons of research and got what I thought were the best bags/syringes.. I was still 2nd-guessing myself tho.. Now that I finally see some growth, it's a great feeling.. You'll get there,
