I just thought I'd obey netiquette and introduced myself after reading around for a while.
I just started my very first growing attempt. I am not a newbie to shrooms. I have been picking them in the wild for 20 years now (I know some killer Semilanceata fields around here, "here" being the Taunus, Rhein-Main Region in Germany). I dearly love shrooms. They've always been nice to me, but always waiting for Fall gave me the blues. Of course, with the Netherlands nearby, one could always go and buy a batch of cubensis there, but what's the fun and challenge in that? Exactly.
I went to school in the US as an exchange student for a year back in 89/90. Being extremely lucky, I ended up in Oregon and got introduced to the Cubensis by the hippies I hung out with there. They were not called Psilocybe Cubensis there back then, but Stropharia Cubensis only. Well, what can I say? With Fall nearing its end and Winter setting in, I am all out of Semilanceata and decided that it was time to start my own growing operation. I have built an incubator/terrarium combination from a mobile camping closet I bought from ebay which I insulated with styro. I have a thermostat and hygrometer sitting outside with the sensors in the closed environment. For a first test I shot up a few PF-Tek jars with Ban Hua Thai spore syringes I bought off a very friendly supplier in Austria. I can't wait to see the results. If things go well, I will move on to grain tek.
Well, apart from Magic Mushrooms, I do embrace the edible ones as well. My grandpa - may god rest his soul - first took me mushroom hunting when I was 3 years old and that was 35 years ago. During the last weeks I pulled quite a few kilos of Boletus Edulis from the woods around here.
So yes, I am a real mycophiliac.
Glad to be here and I'll annoy the lot of you with questions if I have any.
Cheers German Kahuna

Another Kraut, eh? Glad to have you on board!
I spent 3 weeks in your lovely country this summer, mostly in the Black Forest area. I'd love to see Germany again sometime!

Welcome to your newest addiction. I spent some time in Germany from '86-'89, with the Army. God I loved that country. Best beer in the world.

Welcome man! I can already admire your ability to punctuate, spell, and organize sentences, and English prolly isn't even your first language! You'll fit in great here.

That's spot on. My "native tongue" is German. But I don't mind either way. I am as comfy with English as I am with German. I am an IT guy now, but I used to translate literature from English to German in an ancient past. I did some comic books, too. Like Calvin & Hobbes, for example.
Anyways... thank you all for the warm welcome!

I was AMAZED with how well most Germans I met spoke English. Some of them made me feel bad about my grammar usage

That's the case apparently, but I thought this was the off-topic lounge of this message board.
So I see you are a Linux user. Big plus in my book. Big plus.
