I remember seeing some doco about how area 51 is all bunk about aliens and shit, they interviewed some general or something who used to work there - he said "visualise the most advanced aircraft you can even dream of, we have aircraft 50 years more advanced than that" with a smug grin on his face.

Looks like russia/china are gonna inherit some pretty sweet toys when america kicks the bucket.

dont worry, they have top secret toys of their own.

i mean we had the sr71 blackbird in the early 1970's...

Actually they started designing the SR71 in the late 50s and it went into service in '64.  I'm sure the stuff we have now is pretty fucking cool in comparison.

But it sounds to me like the OP saw an unmanned drone (like the ones Pris posted pics of).  The rocket idea isn't bad either, but I don't see them test firing one over a populated area.

On a side note, I was working near the air force base a couple weeks ago and saw a squadron of F-22 Raptors take off.  First time I've seen them here.  Pretty bitchin planes.

The loudest thing I see around here is the B-1 bombers.  Those fuckers rattle the goddamn windows in my backhoe when they fly over!!

Although the object i saw going through the air in the morning was louder than anything else i ever heard.  Are drones really that loud and fast?

I was planting trees a couple years ago, 4 c-130s flew overhead
that was the day I learned about the flight path, they were no
more than 300 feet over the tree tops
