Brahmacharya
    #9144092 - 10/27/08 09:32 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

People sometimes give me some flak when I talk about this but whatever I'm gonna talk about this anyways.

Basically I am a hindu but the stuff I am going to talk about can be interpreted in a non-religious way because I'm just going to be talking about physical processes and the hindu concepts I am talking about are concepts not only found in hinduism but found elsewhere under different names.

Ok so according to hindu though the body contains prana(life force). Onetype of prana is veerya... and according to hindus veerya is lost upon experiencing a sexual orgasm. According to hindu thought the way to attain mystical states is to preserve ones veerya through avoiding orgasm and to do that in conjunction with meditation... this is called brahmacharya. Brahmacharya means to avoid orgasm unless one is having an orgasm in order to make children... this is the definition of brahmacharya because it is honorable to have children.

If a person has a wet dream that is not a break in brahmacharya... the content of the emission is different than a voluntary orgasm.

With women they lose their veerya with each orgasm and it all comes out in menstruation... women who practive brahmacharya for a certain length of time eventually stop menstruating and the time leading up to the end of menstruation the quality of the menstruation changes so that less hormones and nutrients are contained in the menstrual fluids. So the fact that women let go of veerya through menstruation does not mean that brahmacharya is not beneficial for them. Brahmacharya is beneficial for women in the same way it benefits men.

So basically my theory is is that psychedelics stimulate artificially areas in the brain that can be stimulated naturally through the practice of brahmacharya in conjunction with meditation. Furthermore I think that since psychedelics stimulate those centers artificially then the result is that one experiences insights mixed with delusions because those centers are artificially stimulated... and this means that after a trip one has to logicially analyze what happened and seperate the insights from the delusions.

From my personal experience I can attest to the benefits of brahmacharya... I have been practicing brahmacharya for over a year and I do notice more clarity to my thinking. I am able to remember more stuff from my childhood. I have better dream recall and I have had some lucid dreams where I just became lucid spontaneously. I also find that my experience of meditation is more fulfilling. I also notice that my senses work more effectively and I have a greater appreciation for nature.

it is more worthwhile

like a subtle, prolonged orgasm

more bliss, euphoria, creativity and energy throughout the day, next to no boredom (or when it comes it's easy to move through), more vivid dreams, etc etc.

abstaining for 1-3 weeks is enough for me, i don't want to take any risks.  but when i do orgasm, i can orgasm up to 6 times.  i try not to release it all, so there won't be too much of a depletion.

through a couple years of experimenting, it is now obvious to me that this is a way to increase 'sexual' energy levels.  or... veerya, shall we say

"Brahmacharya is `being in Brahman' (or `living in
Brahman'). It has no connection with celibacy, as it is commonly understood. A real Brahmachari, that is, one who lives in Brahman, finds bliss in Brahman, which is the Self. Why should he then look for other sources of happiness? In fact emergence from the Self is the cause of all misery."

Ramana maharshi

One who can inquire into the true nature of Self is free from all practices & austerities, i agree that it has its effects but it is unecessary for a Jnani, if you want a subtle prolonged orgasm to stretch through your whole day self inquiry is the only way, constant & permanent meditation, retention of the seed which is the most potent manifestation of the vital force that this body produces can help, but it is useless if the one retaining the fluid doesnt make use of the retention.

Ive been able to do this for about a month or two at a time tops but eventually I always caved into carnal desires. I DID notice many benefits, especially in my energy.

I like tantra for what it really is. Ive also noticed people are clueless about it. Tantra isnt about having an orgasm, it is about NOT having an orgasm.
Tantra is not sex, it is a way of life.

During my DMT experience over the summer I saw the Sri Yantra and learned it as truth.

it is about NOT having an orgasm.

It may be about limiting or alternatives to ejaculation but there is no restriction on orgasm to my knowledge.

From my experience tantrism is using whatever you come into contact with to come into union with the source, this can be done with anything as everything offers a reflection of the source, this is why many people enjoy it as it doesnt reject worldy objects its indulges them, but this is also tantras downfall, it gives some people an excuse to be greedy, which we really dont need help with!

It is most certainly a way of life, but it also says that you have no will, both yoga & tantra are techniques for going beyond the mind to the source, yoga says use your will to become a better person, tantra says you are already perfect so do what comes natural to you, just be aware.

:peace:

Tantra has no downfall IMO, people fall down by choice.

I did a quick couple of wiki's on the sri tantra thing

"The Sri Chakra (called the Shri Yantra) is the symbol of Hindu tantra, which is based on the Hindu philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism."

"Among the various Hindu philosophies, Kaśmir Śaivism is a school of Śaivism categorized by various scholars as monistic[1] idealism (absolute idealism, theistic monism[2], realistic idealism[3], transcendental physicalism or concrete monism[4]). These descriptors denote a standpoint that Cit - consciousness - is the one reality. Matter is not separated from consciousness, but rather identical to it. There is no gap between God and the world. The world is not an illusion (as in Advaita Vedanta), rather the perception of duality is the illusion."

*In posting these excerpts of wiki articles I am not implying whether or not I agree with the excerpts... I haven't really thought much about the stuff being written in the excerpts before.

Everything is dangerous in the hands of the ignorant. Is a hammer dangerous of itself. Even Buddhism is greatly abused IMO.
