1.i did not have the polyfill in the holes while it was colonizing i put it in after i had the holes taped 2.i used glad wrap for the top because glad wrap lets air pass thru it i also had a fan in the room for fae as for my pinset im not too sure why it sucked

Thanks for your infos noobieshroomie. I am not sure whether glad wrap will let air through, just checked the website. But I know that experienced cultivators use it as a substitute for parafilm, so I guess it is breathable. Otto says in his bucket thread that you can also use saran wrap to have the additional volume effect of the shower caps. Maybe your additional holes came a bit late, to benefit the pinset. I think even Otto writes somewhere that you can do without polyfill stuffed holes. When your mycelium is healthy and fully colonized the substrate IMHO it does not need the polyfill protection. The polyfill harms more by hindering FAE. Did you hand fan at all? Hope you do not mind my questions. I am just curious to know what went wrong with your bucket attempt.

Hey i was wondering if this same method could be applied to a monotub. Do everything exactly the same just put it in a monotun instead of a bucket. What do ya think?
