I have a question thats still lingering in my mind. Per say someone has a jar that is 90% colonized. But seems to have slowed. can this person crack the lids of the jars to introduce new air exchange or is this unsafe?

You can try flipping the jars upside down to try to get rid of some of that co2 bulidup. Although I'm not sure exactly how much this helps :/ You might also try loosening the lids

Yeah flipping helps, but the last 10% of the jar colonises the slowest, just part of the game. One thing that really helps is having your jars in an incubation chamber with temps in the mid 80's, if you are not already doing this, I highly reccommend it. Good Luck

Flipping them has often helped for me. CO2 is heavier than oxygen and flipping them helps drain some CO2 provided your innoculation holes aren't coverd (taped).

I've seen good results flipping jars even without un-taped holes or loosening the lid. A couple possible reasons: 1. After flipping, oxygen that may be in the verm layer will move upward, displacing CO2, and 2. Excess water that may be in the bottom of your jars will move down into the verm layer, allowing more air to (what was) the bottom of the cake.

Be clean, throw it in a blender and toss it back in the jar. It will be fully colonized in a few days.
Or cut off the uncolonized part. I have heard of ppl burning the uncolonized part.
If it really has stalled, It will most likely be colonized by a contam before mycelium.
