ID Please- Cauliflower?
    #9129338 - 10/24/08 10:48 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

Alright, for my first post I wanted to identify gills, cap, stem, and spores, but I picked a mushroom that looks like this.

Anyways,

Shape of fungi- Brainy Looking, light cream colored, about 6 inches in diameter
Odor- Strong but Pleasant Smell (I cant place the smell)
Habitat-  Found at the base of what I believe to be was an old Douglas-Fir stump (possibly cedar?) in western WA at about 1000 ft elevation
Other distinguishing characteristics- It has something like a root system, not just one stem entering the ground.

This is about all I have, I am going to try and obtain a spore print (I put black paper under the whole mushroom). If there is any different advice on how to obtain it, it would be appreciated.

If there are ways to improve on my ID, let me know as well.

Thanks for all the help,

Kayersoze

Thanks weiliiiiiii for the help in getting that picture to show up.

I am trying to figure out why it wouldn't let me post with the html.  I am sure it is stupid user error.  Get her done next time.

I saw one of these in oregon a week ago while hiking around.  Never saw one before.  I looked through this website:  http://academic.evergreen.edu/projects/mushrooms/introm/index.htm

and thought it looked like this:  http://academic.evergreen.edu/projects/mushrooms/introm/s21.htm
