You may be right, I just avoid commitment like the plague.

I never know what I'm gonna do 2morrow...  I like to feel free.

I got $$$ in the bank and a tent and rucksack, no children, no wife, no debt.

If I had those I'd feel tied down and stuck.

Some people like it like that.  Thats fine as long as your happy.

Man you sound like my kind of cat. We've definitely gotta chill at some point. Me and my 2 best friends (who currently do nothing, but sell loads of weed and sit in bushes tripping / getting high) are proper into the whole camping / living outdoors / freedom thing.

What festies you hitting up next year? You'll have to keep your eye out for a young geezer with dreads, wearing a mad-hatteresque hat made out of recycled jeans with a large carved hazel stick

I'm interested in the metaphysical and psychology just as much as I am the macro, micro and everything in between. I don't want to understand just how one piece of an incredibly complex system works, I would like to understand it from a more general broader perspective. This is where I think a lot of modern science falls apart at the seams, just like that quote WhiskyClone just posted about seeing every problem as a nail.

How could you possibly understand the world if you don't understand yourself to begin with?

I couldn't have studied the mind and behavior in the manner that I have without going through formal education.  In that sense, its allowed me to pursue my interests at a different level.

both are illusions. identity is an illusion, thus how you perceive the world is only coherent to one illusion at a time (to your current identity).

An illusion? meaning that its not real? Whilst I understand its difficult to prove that I exist (in a philosophical sense of the word), I would argue that your identity is forged by your subjective experience of the world. No one is significant and we are all born equal, yet what happens after birth is what makes us who we are.

Perceptions are entirely subjective, which makes this platitude valid for all cases. Way to sound profound .

The nature of enlightenment is such that you are 'awoken' to the real world. Whilst maths and physics may seem, to you, to be an arbitrary abstraction from the ultimate simplicity and order that this world appears to exhibit, that is (in my opinion) only because we approach from a narrow perspective.

All we have is what we have.

illusion, as in "the sum of its parts". the world and yourself/myself.

I don't want to argue over semantics and I'm curious to what point you're actually trying to put across.

Can you rephrase that statement without using the word illusion?

I dropped out of high school and busted my ass at work ever since.  Now I am 26 and sick and tired of working hard instead of smart.

I'm going back to school in Jan to get edumacated and acheive the goals that I originally set for myself before I got stubborn.

True story.

I think college can provide a lot of things to someone who knows what they want and pursue it.  Surely its not a bad thing to have a college degree.  But college can also be a waste of time/money to someone who has no direction or goals in mind.  I went to college for a year.  Pretty much spent the whole time high/drunk and then received decent grades in a bunch of classes I hardy remember attending!  At that point I knew I was wasting my time/money there so I never went back.  I've done well for myself in a career that I enjoy without any help from higher education and I don't regret not continuing my schooling.  But if you know theres a field that interests you that would require a degree to work in then I would advise anyone to bite the bullet and do it.

1) what are you doing now

2) do you regret not going

I honestly hate every second of it right now. I'm so unmotivated, each class is uninteresting, I can hardly focus, etc. etc. etc.

just curious..

I went for three years, then decided that I was going for the wrong reasons.

Got a degree, never used it, and have since been doing miscellaneous work to get by. Much more fun this way though.

Btw, love your avatar, awesome movie.

I'm fucking miserable in college right now. I hate all my classes. I have no motivation. I can't focus or remember to do most assignments.

On the other hand I feel like if I drop out I'll get so fucked over eventually and stuck. I just want to make decent/average money so I can live in maybe an apartment or someplace small and enjoy myself.

But right now I'm stuck in this hellish loop.
