well do you remember my white EQs?
i have collected some spores [about a print] and put all of it in a syringe. then ALL syringe inside a single cake. why? because i am wycked!  lol lol
anyway, the mycelium showed up but its kind-a-weird:
the black dots are actually clumps of spores...!
do you think its okee? its not snowy white as it should be...

Those are really "hot" syringes you're using there man... I think it should be fine, but you're going to have a lot of spore races in that jar..

I bet that is why its so fluffy and light. Could be cobweb though. Dunno.
Mycofile has a point about the dark syringe theory. All them spores have germinated very fluffy. Fewer spores germinating can create more rhizo mycelium.

Thats obviously contamination of one sort or another. No way is that mycelium. Especially given its already putting spores out when we all know that for mycelium to do this it must produce mushrooms..
For 400 posts you don't seem to have seen much action

He said it was because he used soo many spores for the jar.

That does look kind of strange.. But, I agree that it is a little too early to tell if it is something other than cubensis mycelium. As for putting all of the spores into one jar, you are a braver man than I. Good luck.

That looks nothing like mycelium, more like some sort of contam(cobweb?)....
I have used 1 print for 1 syringe before and you still couldnt see spores clumped together in the substrate.

well it seems to me either that it a mutation from radio-activity of mobile phone system or a simple plain fucking mold of some kind. lol
time will tell. nope, i never quarantine any jars, that will make them feel loneliness and disapproval of the rest members of jar society lol and will eventually lead to a dead mycelium due to psychological problems.
instead, i keep them inside the incubator (none jar is toucing any other) and i spray lysol [dettol] on the area before closing the lid no contams to other jars EVER.
as for the question why i used all the syringe in one jar, is because i loooove mushroom cultivation as a personal occupation - should i say hobby? nah... - i dont do it for money or only for tripping. i like it because of the fact i can try various things i have read or thought, and Shroomery plays a very important factor in that. so i just wanted to know what will be the results of using more than i should. the spores were collected from my no.1 shroom i ever growed while it was still on casing, so there is a big chance that it was attacked by some microorganisms very soon. anyway, TIME WILL TELL

all my GTs in my experience up to now are showing first sign of mycelium in 5 days. all. dunno how it is so accurate, anyway. my pf-classic are definately slooooow movers. this one, the unknown mycmold has appeared on the 5th day. himmm... may be we should change the topic to a third useless competition... nice idea Wyckeon lol

well the contest's rules are already known. no prize since the 'shrooms prize' might work in a bad way.

(B) this is not mycelium. this is a new species of mycmold-mit-sporen.

I am growing my first batch so I don't claim to know much. But I will play the game just for the hell of it, and because my jars right now have some similarity to yours.
I innoculated 9/21 (about the same time as you?). I had a hard time controlling the syringe and accidentally put too much into my jars, maybe 3 or 4cc. Also a lot of moisture in the jars because I mixed too much water into the substrate. The sides look mushy--kinda like yours.
I had the same sort of brownish off-white growth appearing on the fifth day. I don't have the black stuff, but it does look like the same spore clumps I saw in my syringes, and if you saw that stuff from day 1, I can accept that it isn't a growth.
Today some of the off-white growth changed to white. And I have a feeling that our jars are somehow linked to each other, possibly through some sort of mystic bond.
So I pick "A", and I bet one used-up can of antibacterial spray that I'm right!
(In case you haven't figured it out yet: I have no idea what I'm talking about. Don't listen to me.)

It does resemble cobweb alot. But it could very well be weak mycelium growth. I have seen this a few times. It will most likely toughin up in a few days if it really is mycelium. This is what too many germinating spores will look like.

A is my vote, all of my buddy's cambodian jars started out looking like that, he thought it was cobweb and was about to get real mad a the Hawksnest, but then a couple of days later, it seemed to turn into thick, white, healthy mycelium. A, I say, A.

That looks just like the mycellum that i got from the Homestead strain. my jars were half colinised before the mycellum ever began to thicken up. I don't like to play games that no one wins but ( a ) is the only correct answer .

it seems to me that it is Contamination all right... lol lol
I am pretty sure the mycelium will lose... but i can always open up the jar and take a part of healthy myc and transfer it to another jar...

this is the end... jim morrison was singing... and yeap, the contam won the mycelium as it was predicted but all hoped the opposite.
i have taken pics and will upload them tomorrow.
i managed to find three uncontaminated pices of myc and got them, bathed them to h2o2 and transfered each of them in a petri dish.
let us all pray for one of them will manage to survive.
