Audio programs crash like poles and cars
    #9093312 -

Fucking ass munch, bugger pottoms! 5 hrs of work shat upon. Why does every music program clash with another!!!???? What happened to 'compatibility'? I've experienced this ALLOT with Cubease, Abelton, and Reason....as I use each of those for various aspects, along with simpler small program. I'm writing a letter to them all, telling them to get their shit strait....I understand they are all rivals so to speak, but this isn't on!

I have to make sure to 'Save' then close, open the other program I need, get what I want, "save" close, open, save close....ahhh

Anyone else have the same problems?

Cracked software is full of bugs sometimes too.

A powermac and legit software is the only freeze free set-up.

Ah yes that might be the issue....

I'm Pc with not-so-legit software. Programs are bullshit though, as I musician I already own about $15,000 in equipment....as if I can afford another 5000+ in programs?

What programs exactly? Are you doing anything specific when it crashes?

Ctrl+s solves that... when you do it about 20 times an hour. Some things you only learn with experience

yeah man thats so true, I do it all the time and not even noticing I'm doing it. Using osx now almost always, I dont need to worry bout shit like that. I can render shit in reason while recording live with logic.  No problems.

I use...

Cubase (legit)
Reason
Abelton
Sound Forge
Logic
Wave Edit Pro
BFD

Say when, I'm sequencing drums in Abelton, I forget what tempo I have been using...open Cubase...abelton crash's....and vica versa.

It's best to keep things as clean and simple on your comp as possible.
Try setting up a new virtual OS with only the apps you need at the moment installed.

I've lost a lot of material even after I saved when NI Reaktor would freeze DP5.
Now I save and restart every few tracks when I'm using a plug-in. :ohwell:

It may well be my comp only has 15/250GB free

Getting an external HD soon.

That looks awesome!!! I used to have a Zoom 8trk HD, but it was such a pain in the ass, flicking through all the menu's to get where you want on a 10x10cm screen. Plus backing up is a bitch. Cubase is nice and easy.

I'm only drafting the album, I'll be recording it full scale in a studio next year, damn MIDI strings are horrible!

Those programs use a lot of memory so having a couple of them open at one time is sucking all your resources. How much RAM do you have?

I got 2x 2.5Ghz , 2g RAM. So it's enough to run most programs, but not when my comp is full.

I don't know what my music is classed as....my main influences are:

BJORK (w00t)
Sigur Ros
Imogen Heap
Mike Patton (anything of his)
Sikth
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Oceansize

Lots of classical/jazz!

So kinda, math/classical/electronic I guess?

why?

What could you do with that, that you couldn't with a sick labtop and midi?

3,000$ is alot, given that box has p&g faders which you couldnt get on a midi.

The fact that there aren't any cables running between your equipment... and everything is compatible right out of the box. The DAW is one of the simplest and easiest to use that I've seen too. And the touch screen is nice. Fall Out Boy's last album was recorded exclusively on one. Justin Timberlake's was too. Sure, you pay more, but to me it's worth every penny. Now, keep in mind I don't already own a home studio. If I did, I would stick with that. But If I am going to have to buy everything I need, I would rather buy one thing and know it works well instead of purchasing a computer, software, an interface etc. and crossing my fingers.

Honestly though, with the new innovative tangible interfaces, I can't imagine why thats the way to go. Shit why not, most that shit is open source and completely customizable. The cubes for the reactable are nearly 500$. For some reason, I'm sure you could make your own, or develope your own programming.

You are right my friend... there is a reason it is the industry standard. The one thing I don't like about digidesign (especially pro tools) is the price tag. My friend just set up his home studio, a mac with logic and he's already spent as much as it would have cost to get one of these, including his interface, keyboard, preamp and plugins.  Plus, An RTAS always seems to cost twice as much as a VST for the exact same software and that pisses me off.

I thought the same thing when I first heard about it... apparently it works ok because I can't find a bad review on it. Plus, you can install a mac os on it if you want, I've seen a few on youtube.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna get it when I save the money. If I don't like it I can always sell it.  :badcomputer:

If I end up getting one I will make a thread on here reviewing it after I get familiar with it.
