I have seen this before with cubensis, and ps. cyanescens, and it's nothing to worry about. I think they are tendrils looking for nutrients, but that doesn't mean your agar has no nutrients, merely that the fungus is just looking for other areas to colonize, which in the case of agar, there are none to look for, but the fungus does this automatically.

Tweedy, If it has been only 3 days and the petri dish is covered with "hairs" it really sounds like contamination, mycelia does not grow THAT fast. Later.------------------
What little I know....

Typical azurescens mycelium is very thick and silky looking on agar and grows at about 1/2 - 2/3 the speed of cubensis. Not aerial. Your description sounds alot like cobweb mold, or some other garbage mold. I hope not .DD

I have seen this with ps cyanescens, ad cubies, so I doubt that it is contamination. If you are in doubt, just let them incubate in another area, away from your other jars. Like I said, I have seen this happen quite a bit, and I have never had any problems with it. Cobwebmold is greyish, not white, and if it is indeed cobweb, which we all here cannot tell for sure without a picture, just do what I said and isolate them from the rest. If it turns out that they its is a mold, then throw it out, but it does not sound like it to me. But like I said, we cannot tell for sure unless we had a pic of it to look at.

As a general rule mycelium is tunneling and mould is surface acting, it is a known process where you can place small plastic rings on the agar and watch as the bugs stay outside and the mycelium gets inside thus self isolating the best part of the contents of the dish.
