I was about to post this same exact thing.
Dude.. You killed a squirrel with a stick once. That's it? Do you think there will constantly be animals walking all over the place to simply chase down? Believe it or not, most of wildmen's meals came from things like deadfalls and natural snares. And yes, the deadfalls killed mostly things like rats, small birds, chipmunks, and maybe squirrel but most likely not. Do you even have a fishing poll? Fish spearing isn't going to be a skill acquired by the time you need it.
I just wrote that because it shows I'm able to, not that I'm depending on it (it happened 5 or 6 years ago). If you read my whole post, you'd see that I have a slingshot, snare wire, and a machete. I also have fish hooks and plenty of fishing line. The SAS survival handbook has many detailed techniques for fishing without a fishing pole, so I'm not worried about that.

you speak alot about psychedlic experiences...this tells me you may just be trying to test yourself, but at the same time you see too caught up in having an altered sate of mind...the acid the mushrooms and the questions of whether or not dehydration brings on hallucinations is puzzleing to me...an altered state of mind is not necassarily the one to be in while attempting a new standard of living no matter how prepared you may feel for it...
when the real tests come about i pray you will not be on one of your tabs or some random mushrooms you found...the idea to escape this world is in all of us like you say, but that doesn't mean its going to be all the easier...
good luck, but i hope that some alternative brings you back to the level of society that we are currently in even though you feel you can't hack it anymore...
Late...
I am not as much caught up in being in a different state of mind as I am interested in the potential psychological, spiritual, and emotional benefits of psychedelic use. I will not use the drugs until I am at least somewhat stable out there, and I have a good field guide for the mushrooms. It's not that I can't hack society, it's just that, in a nutshell, I don't like it, and I'm leaving.
Late.

That's why I'm doing this!
JK, but I don't think I'll get tired of the forest very soon. If I do, I'll migrate south. But if what you say actually happens, I wouldn't have mind it at all...

Have you thought about starting out by hiking away from a small town instead of getting off a bus and walking away into the woods? I don't really see the reason for sort of *throwing* yourself into the wilderness, when you could sort of ease yourself into the wild a little more gradually.
It seems to me that would serve a great safety purpose in that the farther you get away from civilization, the more experienced you will become and the less likely you will need help from said civilization.

I agree with this. The womb may make you claustrophobic but at least it's somewhat safe. Don't cut the cord right away.

i REALLY enjoy this idea, ive thought of it several times..i would take a blowgun or bow and arrow instead of a slingshot....but either way....good luck, i bet it will be a very spiritual experience.

So if I understand it correctly, he officially survived for 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds in the wild before returning to civilization.
Epic.
