There were a few thousand Greeks, including the thespians I believe, but the Spartans, along with Leonidas were still there at the gates.

it's already changed for most, there's but a handful of fundamentalists that truly believe that the bible and the Qua'ran are the infallible word of god
A handful? 63% of Americans believe the bible the literal word of god? 42% believe that Jesus will return in their lifetime! There are old statistics, but it's really not a "handful".
Religion was community for so long, now there is the internet (and the Shroomery) for worldwide community, it will eat away at religion slowly, but you forget how gullible humans are.
-------------------- "A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." Albert Einstein

lets not forget the Thebians, Helots, Phocians, and the of course 300 Hippeis the Leonidas took ... now that was a worthless bunch, naked bastards playing hackey sack all day
there were more than 5000 when they arrived at the pass, more came over the next few days, many of the greeks left as well

that may be 63% of the ones that attend church regularly, probably 70% of those claiming to be christian dont even go to church, only 25% of Catholics do, and 10% of other denominations, other than protestants, they're a kooky bunch most people that attend church are older women
when you make the claim of being christian, you're also expected to respond with the typical beliefs of what christianity is, when I was forced into going as a kid there were only a few people that really believed what was being taught, it was a networking function more often than not
