Did you manage to get loans on your own, or did you need a co-signer? So far, no one seems to be too eager to loan me any money.

No, no co-signer.  School loans are usually pretty easy to get in my experience.   We are going to take out another one very soon.

EDIT- Anyway, REU's are usually funded so keep one in mind!

yeah, ive never seen anyone need a cosigner for a school loan.  They are guaranteed by the govt (whatever that really does, i don't know).  You can have the worst credit, and still get the max amount...

peace

I constantly hear about how much financial aid people are getting, but I get turned down every semester. The financial aid dept actually dropped my file for the 08-09 school year, so now I have to go talk to them and see what the problem is. I swear, I'm cursed.

Not exactly. Loan amount is based on cost of attendance, expected family contribution, income of you and your familly, distribution of funds to the students requesting within the school and more. After I get my loan amounts I always have to go to the office of financial student aide to beg for more, and depending on who you talk to they will or won't give it to you.

I dont really know, its probably a Florida thing. I dont even qualify for financial aid if I'm not enrolled full time, but I cant enroll full time without financial aid. I keep applying, and they keep rejecting me. Now it looks like I'm going to have to take a day off of work to go up there and see what these incompetent, spoiled, careless, federal work study pieces of shit have done with my file.

Whatever........now I'm all fucking stressed out again, I took the night off from studying to chill, and I ended up stressing myself out.

FUCK!

Have a good night everyone, I'm done for the night, I need to be relaxing, not working myself up like an idiot. My freakin BP jump almost 10 points in the last month alone. I need to go ride my bike or something, because I'm pretty much just a big ball of contempt for the world right now.

Well, I dont want to exasperate you... you can enroll before tuition is due to get your financial aid.  Its federal aid, so I doubt its a flordia thing.  If I were in your shoes, I would make an appointment with whoever is in charge at the financial office and find out exactly what on your application is keeping you from getting aid.

Otherwise, just relax man!  We didnt mean to get you all worked up, we genuinely do care.

Major: Psychology
Minor: Neuroscience

Plans: Med school for behavioral neuroscience or neuropsychiatry. I know psychiatry has a bad rep on these boards but I'm fascinated by psychological disorders in regards to their biological basis.

I hate psychiatrists that simply give drugs to patients to solve their problems. I'd rather use drugs to aid in psychotherapy; I really think this can work wonders for people.

And if that doesn't work out I'd love to work with MAPS on psychedelic research.

the reality is you kinda have to be a specialist at something if you want to avoid miserable tedious jobs

i kind of like the idea of seperating my work from my hobbies, besides one hobby that would end up being my career

Right now I'm getting an Associates in Business Admin.

When I transfer, I'll probably shift toward Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, or something of the sort.

I've always been sort of a businessman, I just don't know what to do exactly.
