Are there easier bulk substrates to work with or better meaning more yields and such?

Easiest acquired seems like coir, at every pet store. Best substrate, everyone seems to have their preferences on that. Lot's of people prefer hpoo, gypsum. Hpoo has straw in it, it's a manure, and gypsum for calcium and few others I forget. Search, watch RR movies.

... I use a combo of coir, manure, worm castings, coffee, and straw, and see great results. I pull a minimum of 1/2 o per flush. Minimum. The most I have puled to date is just a touch under 2 dried O's. And my containers aren't really that big.

The best sub starts with horse manure, horse poop whatever you want to call it.
Coir can be added as well as coffee grounds, vermiculite, gypsum, vegetable oil (forgot the ratio but agar advised on this I do believe)
The ratio is up to you but I can't suggest the perfect mix because I don't have it yet haha

I get that much off of a single pint of BRF. I have about 8-9 handfuls worth of sub per container. My containers are only about 12x3.5x9 ish.

85% coir, 5% composted chicken poo and 10% gypsum seem to trick with my mushies! I yield about 2 dry ounces from my bulk sub tub....

10ml per pound is the going rate. rapeseed oil (not canola oil), flax seed oil (with ground seed offering more lignan-i use "Barleans"), coconut oil and cotton seed oil. all those are generally considered the best to use and have been proven so in many research papers and suggested by Penn State and Agar.
Penn State is suggesting 10ml per pound and Agar said the same multiplied out to 5 pounds. oil is added to moist substrate before pasturiztion. but in earilier research the cited level was 0.028 ml/g which would be 0.784 ml/pound. Much less than Penn State and Agar suggestion. but i use the 10 ml/pound rate and like it. i use coconut and flax seed oil, 5ml of each per pound.
oil is better to add then spawnmate and denatured rapeseed like Agar used to suggest. oil offers the same benefits without the added danger of increased sub tempreature and increase chance of contams from the addition of seed. alot of this info is on Penn State site though you need to search for research not from Penn State too becuase a good bit of type of oil info is not on Penn State, they suggest cotten seed oil. some oils are much better than others. after reading a tons of reserach on all from Penn State what i listed as the oils you want is correct.

I'm doing coir as a base, 30-33% coffee grounds, 5% gypsum. No hpoo for the winter. All the poo in the stalls is mixed with stuff to make it smell less in the stable near me. I might do 15% verm for fun. Will adjust to test different numbers but from one of RR's videos he suggests 5% gypsum for hpoo.
