BRF TEK question....

are the tyvek arm wraps necessary?...just curious whether or not this is overkill, or contams are that likely......this is my first time trying this tek, i do not have a pressure cooker, was i right in assuming this is my best bet under my circumstances of not having a cooker?..thanks in advance

no its not nessesary but recomended. we are the biggest source of contamination and are covered in mould spores and bacteria. i never used them. glovebox, alcohol wiped latex gloves, alcohol wipe jar lid, flame needle red hot. wait 3 seconds to cool needle, inoculate jar. flame before each jar.

I have never even seen such things. And I've done cakes without a PC, succesfully.

nah I dont use them... I use 99.9% hand sanatizer on the arms, and rubber gloves.
I dont use a PC either, I steam them in a stock pot for about 90mins. I've had great success with that.

If you don't use tyvek sleeves, cut the holes in your glovebox smaller so you get a tight fit around the arm holes. I'd suggest a freshly laundered long sleeve cotton shirt over bare arms. You'll be shedding thousands of skin cells, so a covering on your arms pads your bet. RR
