I saw a tek on converting a PC to a sterilizer but can't find it anymore. Anyone know?

What brand and model? It's easy with AA. Simply replace the nozzle and weight with a toggle valve, and the blowout plug with a 25lb relief valve. You'll have to adjust stove burner settings to regulate pressure. RR

Yea, a pressure cooker sterilizes...I don't know what to say. Just be sure to read your manual, or you'll blow yourself up...A PC is a ticking time bomb.

The loss of Steam Vapor, and the Lower pressure is a Pressure Cooker... some dont get over 7.5psi or 236 degrees
When they are sealed systems capable of Pressures of 20-25psi and temps of 272-287 degrees they are Sterilizers
see the difference now?

Sterilizers are totally sealed and pull a vacuum when they cool. When a PC cools, the nozzle and weight don't make a perfect seal, thus air and contaminants can be drawn in. RR

RR already pointed out what the diffrence is. A pressure cooker has a weight. A sterilizer has a toggle valve.
Ive got a AA 1941, and it has a toggle valve. Trust me, It beats the shit out of a weight. You can load that fucker with water, do 10 cooks and still have 98%+ of the water you started with.

in other terms. its a way to be 100% sterile instead of chancing it with a pressure cooker.

yea basically, I was kinda hoping to see a link for a TEK if anyone had one though. It's a difficult mater to find on the search function.
Pressure cookers are pretty sterile but I just wanted to look at increasing the quality of my sterile garb and equipment as I am considdering doing some academic experimentation and I want to be fully prepared.

The insert is GREAT. Especially, if you do BAGS. If you just do jars. You don't need it.
You do not need the drain tube. What it does. Is suck up any moisture & vent it. That gets inside the insert. If you vent it while the PC is still HOT.

Yes, you can replace the weight stem, with a toggle valve. (same thread)
What I love about an AA with the toggle valve. Is, you start with a quart of water in the bottom. And, can PC all day. And, lose NO WATER.
Toggle valve will only auto/vent around 26 psi. As an audible warning. It will hiss at first. As pressure increases, it will whistle.
  TOGGLE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

so I could get a toggle valve that vents at the right PSI and then I'm set? sounds awesome, just wonder why normal PCs don't come with those instead of a weight.

you would also need a 25lb safety vent
and they dont for convenience and safety reasons
