So here is the deal Ive got a bale of wheat straw,3 bricks of coir, and a 78 quart Monotub that I plan on spawning WBS to. I am really confused on how to prepare it. I Have got the ratios down as far as how much I need. But not clear on how to prepare the coir and straw. So I have a couple question some help would greatly be appreciated.
1) Do I hydrate straw and coir seperatly and then mix together, And if I can will it maintain field capacity after mixed .
2) When hydrating straw can I skip soap and soak in lime bath, then mix with coir, gypsum, coffee grinds, and pasterize all together
3) When spawing WBS should I layer it or mix it all together.
I ve searched endlessy and could not find an answer Please help a noob out so I dont mess this shit up. Or hook me up with a link to some similar teks. Thanks jAyYyY

Yes, i think if you soak coir the wrong way it will turn muddy.

Yes I here a lime or soap soak cuts down contams, staw contams easy. it still must be pasturized after soak. I would mix the coir, gypsum, coffee grinds to field capcity and sterlize it , then mix it with the pasturized straw so you don't leach out your nutes. 3) When spawing WBS should I layer it or mix it all together. Mixing will give a more even colinization. Don't let all the grain sink to the bottom. pour one jar over the top so its has more grain. this will help the top to grow faster to protect from contamination.
