Am I paranoid!?

Well, Id like to start this off by saying ive been glued to this website for the last 3 weeks but kept putting off signing up until today. I have jumped head first into this hobby with almost no knowledge prior to starting. This is a bit winded and I apologize in advance but figured the more info I could provide perhaps the better guidance I could receive.
Lets rewind, I ordered 5 premade 2-lb mycobags of substrate with filter patch and self healing inoculation port. I ordered 3 different strands from The Hawks Eye, Equadors,Penis Envy and God Seekers. Everything arrvied within a week of eachother and I got work inoculating and labeling my bags. The bags I injected with PE colonized by far the fastest 7-8 days faster then the EQ. Leaving the GS dead last which is just about done colonizing now about 5 weeks into this project. I decided I was going to case my 2lb bags I hunted for vermiculite and peat moss as I figured it to be the easiest casing for me to do as a total noob. Now it seems vermiculite is harder to find then heroin lol. After stopping at a couple garden centers and having smoke blown up my ass about how its been pulled off the shelves and such, I was talked into buying perlite. Not knowing much I trusted this garden center employee and used perlite and sphagnum moss as a casing layer.. Note that I recently read perlite wicks away moisture from its surroundings which leaves me screaming mad goddamn that lady at the garden store.
Now after doing lots of searching and absorbing every bit of info I could find for the last week or so, I now know I made a boat load of mistakes. My fruiting chamber is a big rubbermade tote with lid about 2-3inchs of perlite on the bottom with an inch of water and a 16inch airstone under that perlite to aid in humidity. Well my FC stays right around 75 -/+ 2deg and humidity is right around 95% sometimes hitting 100% I need to figure out a timer setting for my airstone I think but thats a whole other issue. Two of my casing suffered from trich I noticed a little spot and tried to save them but failed and sacked 1 tray of PE and 1 tray of EQ. I cleaned out my fruiting chamber throwing out everything that was inside and cased the other PE and EQ bag I had. Now ive got pins all over my EQ tray but my PE tray got little blueish/teal looking areas in a panic I thought OMG more trich and began removing the spots and patch filling. Well the PE still refuses to pin even after cold shocking in the fridge for 16hrs and deep scratching so im about to just toss it. The EQ tray has a massive amount of pins but I fear 80% of them will just abort as 6 days in the FC and they barely growing bigger just producing more and more pins. Maybe im just crazy lol so yea some help/suggestions/medication you can prescribe/insults all of it I can put to use!
Is that tiny little spec in the middle of this pic trich!? Im gonna go bloody insane if it is lol. The pic was taken right after I fanned and misted.

looks like brusing. its at the base of the pin. Not uncommon. You could always do the qtip test. search it in your search bar. its a amazing tool on this site.

I just did the Qtip test and from what I could see and the spot being so small the Qtip didnt change color. I guess im just going to have to keep a very close eye on it. Thanks shr00mz any idea as to why my PE refuses to pin? Should I deep scratch it/cold shock it again? The PE is suffering from overlay I did some searching and from what I gather deep scratching is supposed to help thanks in advance. P.S My entire casing is loaded with pins that seem to get wider instead of taller. I guess im ok with it aslong as I can walk away from this attempt with knowledge and a handful of edibles for my time.

I have two monotubs of PE setup right now. They're still in colonizing stages. Ive heard PE is a lil different of a strain pinning wise. It takes longer. Keep your relative humidity(RH) high. Make sure your getting plenty of fresh air. Of course your light cycle. Ive given mushies 4-8 hours of light daily before with great success. many people do 12/12. Do what you want experiment. just remeber those three things trigger pinning.
About deep scratching.. there was a post earlier about it from RR. Since he was alot more experience, I would go with his advice. Deep scratching brings in contams. Most the time you dont really have overlay. I just think you do because of the bad quality pictures on this forum.

Shr00mz ive been running the light about 24hrs a day its an 18w floro tube light made for under counter lighting. Yea I had read the deep scratching post before I had did the first deepscratch/cold shock method after 5 days of no pins. Perhaps I just didnt give it long enough and now I damaged it have to wait for it to rebuild? Is it possible that the stran of PE I got is just tired and lazy?

The cold shock set you back because you don't cold shock tropical species. Deep scratching set you back because it's a bunk tek. Aquarium air pumps and stones don't provide enough fresh air, so that's set you back. Fruiting chambers should have no standing water in the perlite. You're not supposed to give light for 24 hours per day, so that's setting you back.
After all that, you're wondering why it's not fruiting after only five days? Five days is about right to expect pins when you do every thing right. Quit fixing what isn't broken(cold shock-scratching), and read some more. Good luck and welcome to the board. RR

hey RR ive read several threads of yours, Yea in my searching here its hard to find newer posts it seems like everything is from 02-04. The deep scratching post I read earlier was posted 04 I believe. I had no idea that I couldnt shock tropical species... makes sense. Like I said im a total scrub and trying to learn. I didnt know 24hrs of light would prevent/slow pinning thought it was only used to give the mushrooms sense of direction. I guess I will put my light on a timer and give them dark time. Im glad to be a member, I only wish I had found this lovely site before I started my project. Question: If you wouldnt mind could you go into explanation as to why I shouldnt have standing water in perlite? :: Is it because standing water is home for contamination? :: I had read that its a way to keep RH high on the forums here. Although I guess just because you read something on here doesnt make it a good idea... *bangs head*

It sounds like you need a terrarium tek. There's a few paragraphs about lighting also at the bottom of the page. If you want to see a video of the terrarium getting built, you can see it by clicking that link. Other pages on the site give accurate info on bulk substrates, casing, etc. I wish I could delete all the bad info that's been posted here over the years, but that would be a full time job that would never end. About all I can do is help steer folks straight now. RR
