casing method

can anyone who has had experience with casing give me a detailed casing procedure? ive read all the casing teks and they dont seem to be very detailed. like do i need a top layer, do i mist with water, how much water do i add to the substrate, sterilization techniques, how do i do it with the least amount of contamination etc....?

The teks are what most of us started out with, I didn`t have the shroomery when I started growing.
Somehow I managed to do it.
Rather do a proper search for casings and consult the faq.
Trust me it tells you everything you need to know.
You say you`ve read teks but yet you ask wether a casing needs a top layer????
What do you think a casing is??
It`s crumbling a cake into a container and casing it with a top layer of some mixture, be it vermiculite or verm/coir or verm/peat/coir/oyster.
Go do some research.

i read the teks. i know about the 1/2 pete 1/2 verm layer. i was just wondering if there was supposed to be another layer like an all verm layer on top of that? i dunno. this is my first attempt and i am not too sure if i am doing it right. just wanted some personal feedback.
