    #9086062 - 10/16/08 11:23 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

hey i am making basic BRF and vermiculite cakes. i read somewhere that i should bake them on a cookie tray seperately before mixing with water. not everyone seems to do this so i was just wondering good idea or bad idea. i dont have a pressure cooker either. also wondering if bandaids over the inoculation sites is good. i have water proof ones i thought would be good, but now i am thinking they will not breathe as well. any help would be much appreciated.

No, people bake the vermiculite before using it as a casing layer...Which you will not be using one with cakes.

Read this, and follow it. You will be fine. You don't need a pressure cooker for cakes. All you need it a pot big enough to hold the jars in order to boil them.
