yeah they are defiantly dry light and compact really want any give at all to them.not like they felt when i birthed them. I'm sure the low humidity from to many holes and lack of perlite caused them to dry out I'm wondering if there is anything i can do to the 3 cakes that are pinning now to try and bring the moisture back up in them was thinking maybe wet verm on top but don't want to smother the pins.

top off one cake has alot of pins going now and the original one is growing alot also showing alot more pins, i also birthed 8 cakes into terrarium 2. hope the cakes that are already pinning are hydrated enough to not abort. sorry about the blurry pictures having a shaky day.

found a post that RR made saying you can set fruiting cakes in saucers of water will this kill the pins growing at the base or if i chose to do this would i want to clean all the pins off the bottom so they dont touch the water?

i put the other cake that was beginning to pin on wet verm than placed a layer off wet verm on top of it and sprayed the shit out of it 2 days ago. mycelium is considerably whiter now and pins are huge (could be strain difference from TC to huautla). also put the fruiting TC cake that is getting extremely shrunk and blue on wet verm and a small bit on top where there was no pins will have to see how it goes in the morning. i will take pics tomorrow or next day, 19 shrooms and counting on TC cake. i don't know how many i should expect to get but they just keep popping out.but also alot of small aborts around the clusters. i dont know if i should try and remove them now or wait till i harvest in a few days.

first cake ever getting close to harvest. has alot more than i expected. the veils started to break how long does it usually take until they begin to drop spored? pictures of treasure coast cake
huautla pins forming they are alot fatter than the TC pins where but also alot less not so clustered.
pes Amazonian still growing. no growth out of sides of cake though.
EDIT - the camera makes the bruising look green for some reason

Savageno, at that stage viels will come off within 24 hours usually. 2 days absolute max. Once the viel tears you can make a good spore print. I let mine go till the viel falls off the cap and makes a ring around the stipe. No reason really, just looks good.
BTW Those cakes look mighty fine.
