I see you used a patato dextrose plate for the successful culture. What media types did you use for the other 11?

What temp were the plates incubated at?

The others were plates with stuff added in various combinations, ampicillin/peroxide/generic growth broth/some bovine serum albumin. Why not.

The one that worked was the one I picked for 'negative control' [above, plate with nothing added]. It was also the oldest of them all, you can see part of the date, it's pretty expired. Usually after this amount of time these plates get thin and dry out, but for some reason this bag was sealed better and they were still thick after a year and some months of being poured. I can't come up with any decent ideas as to what conversions could be occuring on a sterile plate that could modify its makeup to any significant degree, but it is true that most labs will not use expired media for selective bacterial growth---so there must be some difference.

It could also just be chance The network may be mostly feeding off of the tissue used to inoculate. Whether it's acclamating to the media or not, tough to tell now.

I'll have a few cultures to send around, but only if it continues to grow outward.
