We've got Final Fantasy making it's first appearance on the list but I'm sure it wont be the only time we see this series on the list.

In my personal experience I believe that Portal, MGS:2, and Zelda should all be somewhat higher. I am glad they did make the list though, that is definitely a good thing.
This list doesn't seem terrible but it is somewhat flawed simply because games are so incredibly different and appeal to so many different people in so many different ways. For instance a sports fan liking Madden more then something like Final Fantasy. There are also so many factors to take into consideration. Such as: how do you compare newer games to older games and scale for the difference in times? Are they taking sales into consideration? What about graphics? Story? Everything? All-around?
I personally don't believe that there is any possible way that a top 100 games list could ever work or have everyone or anyone like it.

I think ign is one of the better gaming sites, they always strive for fair and balanced reviews.
As far as the list goes, there have been a few disappointments but it looks like they have given up their votes this year. The list is based on the reader reviews.
http://top100.ign.com/2008/ As we proclaimed last fall, we love to listen to people scream at us -- which is why we braved the hostile waters and assembled our list of the Top 100 Games of All Time. It was a huge success for all involved, and IGN readers of every age and opinion made sure that we knew just how right (or wrong) we were with our ranked selections. With that feedback in mind, we decided to give up our voting powers this year and move them over to you, our daily supporters. The result? The IGN Readers' Choice Top 100 Games of All Time!
The Top 100 Games of All Time! The criteria for creating this list of your picks for the Top 100 Games of All Time are as follows:
- Eligible games had to have been released no later than September 30, 2008 and must have received at least 1,000 reader ratings.
- The list is comprised of single, stand-alone titles and doesn't include compilations, expansion packs or add-ons.
- Titles with multiple editions such as collector's boxes, gold editions or direct re-releases have been consolidated into one single entry, with the edition deemed most deserving taking precedence.
- Updated versions of original titles were only included on the list if they were significantly different from their predecessors.
- Games released anywhere in the world are eligible (that means that even Japanese-only titles qualify).

we are seeing some great games now but I'm starting to worry that some of my favorites wont make the list.

Not a bad new set of games there... I personally feel that FF VII should have been a little higher though. Metal Gear Solid 4 maybe too.

Wow 71.... I didn't even see that! SC is probably my all time favorite game. That's really lame, I figured it would be in the top ten..

WTF!!! SMB3 should be in the top 10 I'll accept Halo on the list but it shouldn't do any better than 40 and SSM making the list twice AND both in the top 20
I don't like this list anymore

I play East Coast as well. It all depends on what you play. Do you like to play normal games like BGH and such? I'm actually pretty good at normal type maps. Here is about how it is for me-
Normal Games (BGH) - Pretty Good Shared Bases 3v3 or 4v4 - Ok, not great Top Vs. Bottom 3v3 or 4v4 Fastest - Pretty Good Zerg (favorite race) - Pretty Good Protoss (my best race) - Great Terran - Terrible

Lol i'm good with all races. I'm good at fastest map games, and ok at normal games. I really prefer fastest though. So much more intense.

With zerg i quick rush lings, while switching to a hydro flood, minor defense around base.
With protoss it's Zealot mass, followed by goons, with a big slug machine thingy drop and go.
