Do these fruiting bodies look ok?
    #9076987 - 10/14/08 04:47 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Been in fruiting stage for about 1.5 weeks now. No contaminants. Might have let the mycelium overgrow a little too much on the vermiculite. Ones bedding of mycelium is beginning to turn the teal color as are some of the shrooms. Chunks of mycilium formed into balls and eventually dried up into a dry spongy brown looking thing. Tell me what you think... all criticism/advice/input is greatly appreaciated. Thanks.

From what I can see , the fruitbodies look OK .

That "teal" looks a little suspect .

Trich mycelium is white also , the spores are green . It can look like good mycelium , to an untrained eye , until the spores show up

It looks like it might be trich mycelium , but the pic isn't the best . It doesn't blow up when I click on it .

Theres seems to be a bit of mutation happening. Most of the fruits look ok but id be a bit worried about the dark yellow spots on some of the mycelium and some of the fruit bodies.

In the upper left hand section along the edges of the tray look reallyy suspicious. I see a little bit of green. The colour balance may be off in the photo which is making it look dirty yellow.

your RH is to low that is why its pining on the sides of the tray. Thats the only place the humidity is high enough. Also the bruising on your fruits and sub.

It is looking pretty sickley though. I'd keep my eyes open for some type of contam.

It does look like trick myc though

Using rye seed as substrate vermiculate as casing. Each tray is in its own plastic container with a clear lid under an HPS for 12/12 right now but the cases might be covering too much % of the perlite in the containers to keep the RH high enough. Been fanning for about 30 seconds around 4 times a day. First grow here i've tried to read up as much as I can but of course its never enough. What is this trick myc and what dangers does it pose? Does it produce fruit bodies that are contaminated? Thanks for all the help, once again, guys.

No need for an HPS at all, a small florescent for ambiant will do the tric (Pun intended)  a HD light like sodium or halide can evaporate a bulk sub easy.  Save the light for your green bud.

How can this guy rehydrate this tray now that it's been colonized?

Have loads more colonized and ready to go. Does the HPS do bad things for the myc? As far as these fruit bodies go, would you say safe to eat? What should I do differently when starting the new trays today? Thanks once again, guys.

RR recommends using a 6500k temp type fluorescent light. Cheaper too, they last a long time and use less energy!

sorry I'm retarded I have been saying HPS when it is a florescent. We just harvested some and I am making a seperate thread with pictures to make sure they are ok to eat (I'm eating them as soon as I get the ok). Can anyone give a condensed summary about this trick myc?
