This will be no cold war.......

Growing up in the cold war era, I always had a certain sense of impending doom as a youth. While that threat was very real, it was not as likely as the doom that you kids should feel growing up in this era of war mongering among US leadership.

Why?

Well, for one, the cold war had a balance. We built up our military might and arms in a competitive manner with our "foe", the USSR. There was balance. Each side had access to the same technologies and each side knew that use of certain armaments would lead to mutually asured destruction. Both the USSR and the US, during the cold war, enjoyed major domination in large sectors of the globe.

On the contrary, today's build up is mostly one-sided. There is no competion. And, there certainly is no feeling of mutually assured destruction should one side use advanced weapons of mass destruction.

Today's build-up by the US seems more wreckless than anything we experienced during cold war times. Yet, on the eve of this madness, this quest for world domination, I see very little concern or protest from the US peoples.

I wonder why? Have the masses been reduced to TV watching idiots only interested in the 30 second blurb about immenent war on the evening news?

How could the once greatest nation on Earth be reduced to the homogenized bowl of fat slobs with attention deficit diosorder folk that we have become?

I think we, as a nation, are on a long downward spiral to our ends.

A small part of me says that the average Joe might wake up and see what is happening.

The larger part of me just says that Americans are dumb, fat, slovenly, lazy, and deserve what they get.
