freezing fresh liberty caps

my friend has picked 100s of liberty caps over the last few days and has decided to take a different approach on storing them.
he has roughly chopped 17 grams of fresh libs and added them to half a tin of soup and frozen them within an hour of picking. he has many of these "portions" in the freezer awaiting consuption.
is this a good idea or not???

^^ more so. Much much more damaging to freeze.

As far as I know, freezing will not lead to degradation of psilocybin. Potency should remain ok. The bits of mushroom will turn into goo, however, leaving you with soup with little bits of goo.

Freezing will break the cell walls but also slow down the breakdown of psilocin, I am not sure what the net effect is. Probably works fine if you don't mind eating slimy half frozen mushrooms, or put them in a smoothie or something.
Another thing to consider is that if you freeze them they keep all their water weight, making them much heavier and thus more illegal if cops find them.

Perhaps he can explain how freezing would destroy potency.

I'd take solid edible shrooms of slightly lower potency over shroom slime.
Also, dried ones can be stored/moved anywhere... Once they are frozen, you gotta keep them frozen right?

Breaking the cell walls can't be good for potency, and I think the degradation wouldn't start until it warmed back up.

I just dry them, then pack them into an air tight jar and freeze them, they last forever (well probably not forever, but I've had some that have been stoed like this for well over a year with no noticable loss of potency.)

i would recommend putting then in to individual doses and in to individual little bags before putting them in the jar/container because you will not believe how fast they thaw out when taken out of the freezer. i once froze a tub full, and when i took the tub out to get a dose they where all frozen together,i tried to break a dose of and the heat from my hands more or less thawed most of it out, ended up just boiling the lot up.
