Certain people drain focus
    #9067535 - 10/12/08 05:54 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I've noticed that when I am around certain people at work I find it almost impossible to concentrate on simple tasks or conversations.

However, when these certain people are absent or even leave the room the focus is returned, vision is clear and I am relaxed.  It is almost as if when these people are present I seem to feel them pulling energy from my torso and my conscience seems to conclude that it is because these people think I am subordinate. Or Perhaps they have fallen victim to false witnesses/hearsay therefore do not see me as I am because there minds have been conditioned to see me in a different way.

Do you think that when people do not see you for who you are, without verbal communication I may add, something is happening between their's and your conflicting energy fields that causes the victim of judgement to lose energy and focus?

I think every person carries with them their own energy. People direct it and use it in different ways, and we can pick up on that.

Your energy might be directed at intelligent thought and conversation, while another persons energy is simply focused on the work at hand, or on some completely trivial matter.

I'm sure when these people are around you, they either feel different also or can tell you aren't connecting with them.

When you're by yourself...its just you and your own energy, so it makes sense that you can focus it easily on whatever you want. But introduce another person...and its natural to try to merge your energies, and that doesn't always work out.

The problem is yours alone. Change your focus/mind and correct the problem.

If that type of thought process is your shtick then reading about psychic vampires may help you.  However, simply practicing focusing and learning to avoid mental distraction could be just as useful depending on your personality.  I personally don't consider energy in my daily routines and while it makes it slightly less interesting, I am more capable of ignoring the people around me until they need me.  Because I don't allow my mind to wander off into attempting to decipher what their thoughts are, I am not distracted by their theoretical disposition/energy/judgments.  Just throwing out a possible solution, you will find the one that works for you.

I've gained a lot of insight learning about the vampire theory, and I think Ice is right. In order to be bitten, you must offer your neck. Seems to be a tendency to do this, and/or return the favor.

Thanks for all of your replies!

I realize that my post may have encapsulated me as a paranoid to some. I was more interested in the energy transfer aspect between strangers and its relation to how we view and/or judge others.

Thank you Brain Chemistry, great insight. Your reply was along the exact line I was looking for.  I do often find my focus is on sparking intelligent conversation or some kind of connection. Although my intentions were benevolent I may sometimes fail to realize that the other person is mainly focused on their own task, thus the drain of energy I feel may be just the feeling that my atempt to connect is being rejected.

As for psychic vampires, I did touch on the subject a few years ago and found it to be very subjective.  Are you reffering to the wiccan practice taking place in the astral realm? Or simply people who play mind games very well?

Most "vampires" aren't consciously attempting to suck. It's a subtle desire for what is perceived as something better than what they've got. Anyone with low self esteem (whether shy or otherwise) will be a vampire to some degree. Some people will just form ego thoughts and modalities about why you're existence is "wrong" somehow, while some people will actively say and do things to make you feel bad. All of this serves to make themselves feel good.

I think we all have vampire like tendencies, unless we are perfect.

Isn't your desire to feel connected or understood by another person also a drain?

When the mind perceives me you him her we she us them, it will always be under the influence of energetic play.

When the Self is seen as the same Self in all beings all there is is that, no influence, not even cause & effect are something that can influence you.
