Drinking Straw Tek Question

Hello again fellow friends. Before I start, I have researched the straw Tek so I dont waste too much time (hopefully...). Im going to dunk my 1/4 pink cakes overnight in water, and afterwards insert a straw. I want to stack two together. Can I drill all the way down the top cake into about halfway/three quarters of the bottom cake? Im thinking of putting holes in the straws, by means of heating up a needle and poking many tiny holes so water can get to the top cake. I could see this as being a problem as i probably wouldnt get a tight seal on the top cake and it would end up leaking on the bottom one. Has anyone tryed this? Is dunking enough and straws are just over-doing it? I dont care how tedious the task is, im taking this up as a full time 2nd job and I just want the best for my cakes (dont have pressure cooker, or extra money for it, so i cant case)
Any opinions and Info is greatly appreciated.

Dunking, in my opinion, is enough. Yes, straws are over doing it.
Dunking will provide your cakes with the necessary moisture content needed to pin and finish a flush. To replenish the moisture content, you should dunk after each flush.

If your stacking to cakes 1 on top of the other i wouldnt use a straw to hold them together. You will want to use a layer of foil between them to stop moisture being transfered from the top cake to the bottom (gravity)
