Hey guys it has been about a week and I took a peek and saw this:
Sorry for the poor quality, I have to use a camera phone . Anyways the whole top is pretty much all white, think I should wait until Wednesday and play it safe? Sorry to ask, it is hard to judge other peoples substrate to mine and this is a first grow. Thanks again!

Hell, I'd give at least 4 to 5 days more after the top is entirely white. There's no harm done in waiting ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A DEEP SUBSTRATE.

Casing is optional if that's a bulk substrate. If you do chose to case, I'd keep it to 1/2" or less. RR

Yes RR it is WBS to straight coir. I didn't have any Gypsum at the time but from Oatman2000's posts on straight coir I feel good about it. Would the 1/2 casing be a safer bet? Any advice much appreciated!

i've always cased at the same time i spawn to a bulk substrate, and i've never had a problem. why incubate before casing? ime, it only delays fruiting.

I keep hearing the term "casing(s)" used improperly. A casing is the non-nutritional layer you put on top of a bulk substrate. People keep calling a cased substrate a "casing".
You dunk the substrate, then case it if you want. You can dunk a cased substrate and just replace the parts of the casing that wash off.

I am waiting until Thursday to fruit as my greenhouse missed its delivery today! I really want to do it right so a few more days. So should I dunk it? The substrate hydrated really well (field capacity?). I am figuring the casing layer does provide some moisture. I don't know why I am questioning some one who grows 4lbs of dry in a month ha. I just need to know for myself, sorry I am nervous I don't want to lose this guy! So according to HC wait till Thurs. or so, dunk in my tub for 6 hours then fruit? Will it over saturate it?

lol incorrect usage of words anoy me as well.. here is another that is common: "second generation LC" just the word generation being used for lc or g2g seems wrong because a generation in genetics is a whole life cycle from spore to fruit to spore? our children are the next generation. a second lc is just an expansion of existing mycelium. cell division. but the word is misused commonly. aa
