It matters neither way - you can vote between candidate 1,2 or 3 and they are all the same. Campaigns sponsored by rich corporate elite.
Funny how your US presidents that support ideas against elitism have consistently throughout history been assassinated.
Call me paranoid but the evidence and way the system works suggests its highly likely to be true.

"These are also very exciting times for our country. The next time you receive our monthly email update, we will know who the next president of the United States will be. The stakes are high. One of the candidates has publicly decried medical marijuana, while the other has stated that he would halt federal law enforcement raids on medical marijuana facilities in states that have medical marijuana laws. One of the candidate’s wives is a former drug addict, yet he supports the overly simplistic Nancy Reagan plan of “Just say no”. The other candidate has stated that he favors treatment over incarceration for first time drug offenders and opposes mandatory minimums. Perhaps most importantly to MAPS research, one of the candidates will allow religious ideology to stand in the way of science, while the other candidate has stated that his faith will not be used to prevent scientific exploration. You can probably guess which candidate is which."
Obama can say what he wants, but the actions of his VP pick speak louder.

I think that's bullshit, who cares if a person votes? The race is not decided on the popular vote.
If its on the popular vote i would agree.
Each representative can vote in either direction without regard to the voting results in their own district. This of course doesn't happen often to go against the results.

Actually a lot of people care if someone votes or not.I am voting for the first time in my 43 years of living.I do not know a great deal about politics, but I am learning a little bit at a time which is better than nothing.I used to think that it does not matter, but the older I get,the more involved I want to be.Just getting out and voting is a good thing, and I feel it is better than not voting at all. When someone chooses not to vote they can give an opinion about something or bitch about some law but it does not hold as much weight with intelligent thinking humans. If the bitcher/complainer had at least taken an action and voted for someone, this proves that they at least thought enough to do that. The complacent attitude toward voting is just wrong IMHO.I know because I was one of those people just not too long ago.

Drugs. You aren't voting because you do drugs. And the candidates along with society look down on your drug use.

I think you're looking at it kind of one dimensionally. I don't want to take part in a system that would only show me attention in the form of punishment for enjoying something that is a small part of my life. It doesn't matter that it's drugs, it could be any illegal, non-harmful activity and I would feel the same, in this case it just happens to be drugs.
Furthermore, and I may be wrong, I don't recall complaining in this thread, simply stating why I'm not voting. I stay up to date with politics and all I can do is laugh at it. Politicians remind me of actors playing in a really shitty play that they put on primarily for themselves, all the while the theater around them is going to hell, but they keep on acting. Like I said, I find it laughable. Though it does upset me at times I try not to complain about it.

you obviously know nothing about obama and his policies, why do you think he brought the biggest anti drug senator onboard as his VP?
first he says he's not interested in taking drugs away from medical users, a couple days later he did a 180 and doesnt want to see it legal or decriminalized, obama just tells people what they want to hear, the pay no attention to the other crap he says

Wouldn't a vote for a third party candidate be a demonstration of your frustration with our current system of government?

Vote or no vote, doesnt matter much anyway. We dont choose a new president to change things, we choose them to keep them the way they are. If we wanted change, we would dismiss our current political system and opt for something totally different.

I don't feel that I should contribute anything to a society that would throw me in jail based off of a lifestyle choice (drugs) I choose to make that effects me and ONLY me. I don't feel that I should contribute to a society that stigmatizes, demonizes and judges my friends and I because we ingest naturally occuring substances that said society doesn't approve of. I don't feel that I should contribute anything to a society that I neither approve of nor want anything to do with. And I certainly don't feel that I should contribute anything to a corrupt beaurocratic body that would only show me attention if I didn't pay taxes or if I was caught doing drugs, in which case the only attention I would get would be negative.
That is why I'm not going to vote.
I no longer give a shit about this country. I dont hear truth I hear what the media tells me. I dont choose the president the media does. If I dont agree with a law I simply wont follow it. That is why I wont ever vote again.

I might vote if I can make it to the voting place on election day and not have to wait an hour in line. But it doesn't matter anyway. Our votes don't decide anything, the electoral college decides the race. Sorry folks, your votes really don't count. I think that the media needs to explain that the popular vote doesn't decide who becomes president. I dont think most of the general public knows about this. I only found out about this back in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote but George W Bush was elected.
