Straw after PF Tek?

Ive been using the PF Tek for about a year now, Ive got some nearly colonized cakes ready, and Im thinking about branching out. Would a jump to straw (colonized with my cakes) be much harder? Is there really just a ridiculous yield difference between bulk substrates and brf jars (double, triple? any rough estimates?)?
I thought ShroomGod's Straw Tek looked nice...

You can probably get better efficiency out of your substrate with cakes but for a equation of your time and money VS yield bulk substrates blow away cakes.

Cakes probably offer the best gram/substrate efficiency but you can pasteurize a hell of a lot of manure or straw at the same time.
bulk is bulk
cakes are.... well tiny

So if cakes produce the most mushrooms per square inch, would it be easier for me to just make more jars?
*Making mycelium syringes already cuts my costs significantly, and I don't mind the hands-on time.

You could make 5 dozen cakes and do a bunch of PC runs and hope they all colonize or you could just do one dozen and throw some horse shit into a pillow case throw that into a pot of water and heat it up to about 160-170 then kill the heat and let sit there for an hour or so then let that shit drain and cool over night and mix in your BRF cakes or better yet grain spawn.
Do a little searching to see how many people go back to cakes after doing bulk. That should be evidence enough.
Also cakes don't produce the most mushrooms per square inch they CAN potentially produce the most mushroom per gram of dry substrate.
If your talking square inches as in fruiting chamber size vs yield. Look at Fooman's mini-double tub he just posted. That's square inch efficiency.

I'm talking per weight of substrate. If you filled up a room with bulk substrate and again with pf jars it would probably be the same output. PF cakes are also a lot harder to fuck up than bulk substrate.
I figure if you got 7gr a cake and did 24 cakes a day for a month... you would end up with 11 pounds of mushrooms... so really you can get a lot of mushrooms just doing cakes.
To do all that would probably only take a few hours of work a day. You would also be dealing with 700 jars though. If you even worked out per jar output. A 1quart grain jar spawned at even 30% will get you a ounce of mushrooms (you could get 2.5 times as much using a 10% spawn rate) and 1quart (4 pf jars) will get you an ounce of mushrooms if you're lucky and you need to make 16 x as many needle stabs and clean your needle 16 x as many times.
See how that works?

Really though you should put people under the impression that you're going bulk because it's easier not because you want to grow 50lbs of mushrooms a month :P

Thanks for the replies. I have one more question... Is there a difference in potency between pf tek and bulk growing?

Probably not. I've heard a lot that potency is dependant on availible nitrogen but im not sure.
I do know that when I got a 3rd flush with my cubensis on my compost/coco mix with added bloodmeal the 3rd flush sucked ass compared to the first two.
My friend who grew some straw logs had similar effects but even the 2nd flush was noticably less potent.
