RR gave good advice, but when they dump a load, they dump a load. That pile took me 3 months to clean out.
You can also buy a bag of hardwood pellet fuel at home despot or at lowes. It turns into sawdust after soaking.
Also, most woodworking shops dont know what to do with their sawdust, and its free for the asking (saves them hauling it to the dump). Check your yellow pages for "kitchen cabinets" and "custom furniture".

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I am sure i will end up with to much of it at one point, this is what i can do without going out of my way.
right now i have
straw, cardboard, Fir & redwood bark.in equal proportion- i am going to add  50/50 coir and verm to  that
should i add BRF as well? dose this sound like it would work
there is probably about 10% activated charcoal in the mix should this pose a problem?

so again I'm am going to try and fruit Enoki,Brick Cap(Hypholoma sublateritium),& Lentinus tigrinus (waixingren) and cubensis all on this one substrate mix
should anything else be added or taken away? any input is appreciated

Bran is a good additive.

I'd like to be able to suggest corn gluten meal, but I'm not sure if I can just yet.  It seems to work just great with sterilized substrates, but my only attempt at using it in pasteurized substrates got contaminated with trich!  CGM is widely used in commercial mushroom growing.  Typically it's sold to mushroom growers in the form of resin coated pellets.  I've been using powdered CGM purchased from a feed store.  It makes a wonderful organic weed and feed for lawns, as it inhibits the germination of seeds, yet does not harm established plants.  This would make it a great candidate for supplementing outdoor beds!

I've been using pine cat litter to make sawdust.  So far I've used it to make sawdust spawn for lion's mane and oysters successfully.  Both agar and LC inoculations seem reluctant to move to sawdust, so I've been filling the jars about 5/8 full with sawdust and adding a layer of hydrated rye or birdseed.  Probably not necessary, but it seems to speed things up a little.

That reminds me, I still have logs to inoculate.  Argh.

thanks for the responses. Tripsis i see that you have mentioned bran more then once, i would add it if i had it but i would have to go out and buy it . you would use it instead of BRF? i don't use BRF but i figured if i was lacking any nutes with my mix the BRF would pick it up. there is probably about 10% activated charcoal in the mix should this pose a problem?
