Well, I'm to these three, and I will honestly be moving withing 1-2 years.
Oregon, California, or Colorado.
Oregon was never on my list, but I'm seeing some stuff I like.

Scary. That's what I'm up against. I have a good job here, but I just can't take these people much longer.
I know the economy isn't going to get better in the next 10-20 years, but I want to move in a couple of years. I'm ruined.

I know how you feel man. I've been in school for way longer than I was suppose to be to get a masters...Which I might not do just saying if I decide to this coming year-2, and with the economy the way it is there isn't any jobs opening up for me to take over as a network administrator. It's kinda sad.

its a personal choice. northern california seems more progressive, especially coast cities. UM prices suck, right now the job market sucks, prices are high for everything. big bonus is the dank pot for cheaper prices. as for personality....your going to have assholes everywhere, you cant just run away from that. You just got to find the right set of friends, just like everywhere else, but i will say there is "more" down to earth people though in california.
I feel california owns because we have a bit of everything, i mean the state is huge and is so versatile, wegot nice beachs and on the other side snow covered mountains. i say go for it, it will be a fun chapter in ur life.

That's what I like. The beaches, the night life, and then you can get to the mountains to relax just a few hours away.
Alabama, is well...Just that, Alabama.
I'm in my mid 20's, and I just really want to experience something new, if you know what I mean. For my age I have done a lot, and experience even more.
I could sit here, as could some of you, for hours telling you stories of shit that just...Isn't suppose to happen, but I've lived...And I'm just in a transition from a crazy son of a bitch...Jails...That type of thing to finally straightening my life out, and I just want to get away to maybe even finish up school somewhere else. Maybe I'll realize I like it here, but I just feel I need to try something new. This shit just isn't working.

It depends on what area of California you are considering. Southern CA, and the SF bay area are very expensive for rent or real estate. These areas also have the most jobs, and the highest pay. I live in a small city of about 100,000 people in northern CA, and it is fairly inexpensive to live here. The pay is not as good as in other areas though, so its all relative. Where I live, I wouldn't exactly call the people progressive, but most people are pretty decent though. My employer has had to lay people off recently, as it has been a really bad year, so I think the economic thing is nation wide. I like trout and bass fishing, and this area is awesome for that. I really like the weed here too. California definately is a beautiful state, with great beaches and forests, especially the redwoods, and it is such a large state that even with so many people there is still a lot of nature left.
