Is he being to impatient
    #906856 - 09/25/02 10:19 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Hi there peeps
A friend of mine recently made 9 BRF cakes in batches of three, the theory being if one batch wasn't done correctly, hopefully the other two would be. First time see, so trying to give himself a better chance of success. They were all innoculated about 8 days ago, yet there is no sign of growth at all. Which could be a good sign as well as there is no sign of contams. Yesterday he built an incubator and placed six of the cakes in there keeping the temp at 27 degrees celcius. Shouldn't there be some signs of activity by now, even a tiny little white dot? Or is he just being a bit impatient?
BTW he is using EQ which is supposed easy for begginers

Yeah, did the best thing and left them over night to cool down in the un-opened PC

Wait a little while longer, you have to have a lot of patience when growing shrooms. On your next attempt shake the jars after they have been inoculated, I've found this helps to speed up colinisation times.

maybe the spores are dead? if they were in a hot car or truck, bye bye spores.
also maybe its too cold in your state? they need tropical temps

I was thinking that myself about the climate, we're from the UK so you could say we live in a "cold state"
Thats why "he" decided to build an incubator. I'll wait another week and then "tell him" to try again.
Cheers for all the suggestions
