 Word up

I have been experiencing a few problems via my isp so I haven't been online as much as possible. I have been reading a few threads and want to make a quick comment.
The political season is coming upon us. Since that is the case our minds will, from time to time, see correlations between the topics in this forum and politics. Side note political commentary is fine but it is not the focus of this forum nor should it be the focus of any thread. If a thread is turned into strictly political commentary it will be moved to the Political Discussion.
If you disagree with this decision please note your objections so that I can consider them and discuss them with the other moderators.

I disagree, as long as there is a S&P connection it should remain here. My reasoning is that many of the people here don't look in the political area and the poster may have specifically want the opinions of the people that frequeant S&P. or maybe not.

Your objection is noted.
If a thread is opened on the pretense of a connection between a given political theme and something relevant to spirituality and/or philosophy and then turns into strictly political commentary it will be moved.
Was I unclear?
If we were to use your criterion a person could want the opinons of those that post here on cultivation and you would maintain it should remain here because of that reason. That is incorrect and it would be moved as well. Those that have political leanings shoudl learn to visit both forums as each has its place.

How about morals and politics? What about political philosophy? For some, their political views are inextricably tied in with their philosophical views. While you are at it, will you be moving threads about aliens to OTD?
My point is that oftentimes there is not a clear distinction between politics and philosophy. There are moral and spiritual implications to political ideas that are too often ignored. Ideas have consequences, particularly political ideas, when backed by the coercive and violent power of governments.

Axiology is germane and so is its political aspect.
What about political philosophy?
If a subject is purely political it does not belong here. Political philosophy is a subset of politics more than it is of philosophy if you follow my reasoning. This is why we have a Political Discussion forum. Political philosophy belongs there and philosophy belongs here.
For some, their political views are inextricably tied in with their philosophical views.
Then they will have to chose, won't they? I have very strong political views but I do not discuss them here and they SURELY are tied to a philosophical viewpoint. I am readily able to bifurcate the two in order to remain within the boundaries of each forum.
While you are at it, will you be moving threads about aliens to OTD?

This reminds me of a difficult decision I had to make regarding the shelving of a book I bought. It was titled, The Philosophy of Teaching Typing. Should it have gone to philosophy? education? or typing?
Obviously it was a book concerning heuristic devices. I shelved it accordingly.

I am not sure. There is talk about creating a new forum just for the express purpose of discussing Mantids. If they do create it we would have to move those discussions as well.
